Page - The unsung hero of Phish?

I believe that Phish would no longer be if Page did not enter the band. Think about it. If Page was not in the band: They lose sort of their “lead guy”, are left with 3 members and don’t seem to be going too far. What else would they have done? Also, think of how much BETTER they got after he entered. Trey takes his composing another step farther and we go from a college, blues, Bob Marley loving bar band to a very tight, lo-class, prog band! There are probably some other elements I did not mention but you get the point.

What do you say?

i dunno i love page, like a lot but i think your underimining the other members

Err, maybe. Who knows i guess would be a good thing to say. I’m not trying to give them any shit or anything but it’s just sort of a “what if?” situation. Good feedback.

Page gets a ton of love around here.

The unsung hero of Phish is Jeff for leaving the band.

:silent:

And deserves every bit of it.

I read somewhere that he said he was still happy with his decision to bail… LMAO… Good for us, bad for him… :eh:

I don’t want to think about that.

Phish is about the ‘whole’ these days, and no part is begger than the whole… Carry on~

Yes, Phish is NOT Phish if any given member were not there!

^ Of course Phish is not Phish without the four individuals that make it Phish.

But yes, Page is the unsung hero.

And biggers can’t be choosers!

up until last nights portland i wouldve said yes…but the artist formerly known as cactus may be giving the chairman a run for his money :sunglasses:

meh. Page, Schmage. “Phish is a 2-guitar band” --Trey.

I do think Gordo WAS the unsung hero prior to 3.0.

Since Hampton 09, I hear both Mike and Page bringing it at a whole new level, but I feel like Gordon is getting his due props, whereas Page is still “Mr Keyboard Player” to a lot of people, even fans.

Overall, I’m just most impressed by how much more confident, relaxed, and strong his playing has been in 3.0 than it was before. It’s like he finally, after 20 years, knows this is HIS band too.

I LOVE PAGE

Ha, nice catch… I’ll try harder coach…

I really like that. It does seem that way. In Cincinnati, when Page closed the show with his “Coil” solo, the crowd went absolutely ballistic. Page seemed totally comfortable underneath that spotlight, like he knew he deserved that spotlight being on him. And he played accordingly. I think these days, with Trey not being such a complete god anymore after his fall from a very high place, the other members are getting more recognition.

Part of me wants Trey to pick his machine gun up again.

Trey, don’t worry, you are still a God to me!
