Phan in Your Neighborhood

On the street several blocks over from mine, on the route leading to the back exit of my nieghborhood, I happened to notice a black Grand Laredo parked on the street with a white Phish logo sticker on the rear side window on the driver’s side.

It’s only been about three months since I first noticed it, but it makes me happy to know there’s another fan in the area. I may pass that house once a week or so because it’s the back way out of the neighborhood, but I have yet to see anyone coming or going from that car.

Don’t exactly know what I would do, if anything, if I did see someone driving it, I guess that would depend on who and how old they were (have to be careful approaching kids at my age). But I still keep a copy of a “giveaway” Phish disk in my car, to share with people I may run into who might be interested. Acts as a calling card, when the rare ocassion of running into a Phish fan occurs.

How do you handle connecting with other fans like this?

I’d drive down a side street on the Purdue campus daily last fall and notice the same car parked in the same spot on the street with a Phish sticker on the back of it.

Finally one weekend I put together a show on 2 discs and left it on their windshield that said “from one fan to another.” I think put down the OKP website but I don’t think they’ve joined.

Keep on scoping them out, maybe one time you’ll see them and you can wave/honk.

I see pheesh stickers on cars all the time, but I’ve never stopped to inquire about the drivers interest.

I know people have stopped me before.

I used to have a picture of Trey (back in the late 90’s) and some kid stopped me at a gas station and asked if he could get a ride to the Spectrum the next week. See I live in Michigan and the Spectrum is in Philly. so it’s funny. and he was DEAD serious. turd ferguson. turd, it’s a funny name, turd.

oh, btw, on a serious note, i would just drive by and think it’s cool. Perhaps if you ever catch the dude or dudette walkin out and they look approachable (or if she’s SMOKIN’ hot) stop them and shoot the shit.

I honked at some chick with a phish license plate the other day. She looked at me like I was crazy.

You’re neighbors…just go ask to borrow a cup of sugar, or patchoullie or whatever you hippies are using in your coffee these days and casually bring up the sticker.

I don’t know if the term “neighbors” applies when the houses are several blocks apart…

what i would do is take pictures of myself…n00dz…and put those on the windshield. if nothing happens and all seems normal for the next few days id say go on over there and chat with this person…if the cops show up id say it was never meant to be.

I approached a hot chic once who was driving a 1986 Honda prelude with stickers all over the back. Turns out she was not into Phish. She actually hated Phish. When i asked her to elaborate she said that she bought the car from what she described as a wook. He lied to her avcout the brakes and transmission and to top it off there was a copy of Phish’s Quadrophenia stuck in the tape deck and that’s all she could listen to! it was hard not to laugh my ass off as she seemed pretty upset! so think twice before you approach a stickered car pholks!

If there’s another fan within 50 miles of here I’d be amazed. I KNOW my friends are getting sick of me going on about how good Phish are!

just the other day i pulled up behind an old Chevy that had a bumper sticker that said “Follow the lines heading South: Big Cypress PH2K” i actually got a little excited about it. if i knew where that person lived i’d smear “PHUCK YEAH” all over the windshield in cheescake. or in poop. human poop.

One time I saw a car ahead with a Phish sticker on the bumper, and it just so happened they were turning left and I was going straight. At the time I’m playing a live release, 6-22-94 if I remember correctly. So I pull up beside the car and blast that shit (and it’s summer, so the windows are down).

Anyway, I look over and see an elderly man looking straight ahead, ignoring me, and than I catch sight of a PANTERA sticker on the side window. Yeah.

I didn’t have any Pantera to jam and see if that’s what he was really into.

OK, so here are my thoughts on that…I’ve seen stickers on cars, I’ve honked, I’ve waved, I’ve been honked at and waved at and even approached a few times by phans that always seem undeniably perplexed that THOSE stickers are on a car that belongs to ME… I don’t get it, but whateva…

Anywho, now that I’ve read the options, I have to say that keeping a CD in your car to give to someone on the off chance that you may meet is actually a great idea. I mean I know that I would think that was really cool if someone did that for me, so maybe I’ll start doing that.
