Phish in 3D

^You’re right. In the end, it’s the band’s fault for letting themselves get Hannah Montanacized.

This changes everything.

I think its wrong to criticize the band for trying to reach a bigger audience. LIke I think the phish 3d is silly because I think all 3D concerts are silly, but at least it might introduce new people to the band.

phans gripe about how phish gets ragged on and portrayed falsely by the mainstream media, yet when the band tries to gain more expose its just them selling out. I mean you can’t have it both ways: either phish gets written off as a jam band or they try to introduce more people to the music through different mediums ie) 3D. And whats so bad with the band trying to make some money, but thats another subject. . . .

I am in no way against the band trying to reach for a bigger audience.

I don’t think this shenanigan will accomplish that, anyways.

So much for my :silent: smiley, huh?

Some people are really taking offense to this it seems.

And all I can say is

Clockwork Orange wasn’t real, you have choices

^Clockwork Orange wasn’t real?!?! :astonished:

Honestly, I’m not offended by the idea of Phish in 3D… I just think it’s stupid. I did take offense to the fact that they sacrificed the quality of the festival to make the film (IMO)… but, I’ve already made that point in my 2009 Oh Kee Pa Award nominated thread… :shifty:

I will go back to :silent: now… I promise.

^Nah man, I enjoyed your take and enjoyed talking about it, I think it is healthy Dooj!

I agree there. I don’t know of anyone who doesn’t already like Phish or who is dragged to it by someone who already likes Phish who will see this movie. There’s not too many folks who will be like "Hey, I don’t know any of this band’s music…let’s pay $10 to go to a two-hour 3D movie of them rather than just checking out one of their CDs.

And let’s be fair here…I’m not accusing them of “jumping on a bandwagon.” I think all of these bands saw the 3D thing and said “Wow…that’s pretty sweet. Let’s try it out.” The difference is some bands got it done sooner than others but it’s likely that all the bands were working on this stuff at the same time. With Phish, they had to wait for a movie-worthy event like Indio and even if U2 came out with a movie, they weren’t just going to cancel all the planning they had already made to film it. Kind of like when two similar video games come out at the same time…fans of each game will accuse the other game of ripping it off and they all forget that both games have been in development for a year and couldn’t possibly rip each other off.

Stevo

i can not wait to re experience one of the greatest things that has ever happened to me…the fact that they can do this now for shows is amazing…i get to go to the festival twice how could anyone not be happy about this.

this is going to be grate im excited, look at the bright side it like we are getting the first tour date in april even though it was already played and whatnot, just thought this thread could use a positive voice…carry on

Man I wish I’d been a fan of Milli Vanilli or Vanilla Ice. Those guys really know how to keep it real and not do lame stuff like put out 3D movies for their fans. Stinkin’ Phish trying to do stuff that people may like. I blame it on the rain.

Milli and Nilla served their purposes at the time. Bu Bu Bu By By…bu bu bu by by by!

this is gonna be fucking awesome.

if everybody could please leave the negative vibes at home and let everyone at the theater have a blast, it would be greatly appreciated.

this thread looks like Greg came back and started talking to himself.

Man this thread is

You’d think Phish was trying to pass health care or something…

I’ll be seeing this.
Looks like a nice night out at the show. At least better then most of the crap they pass off as entertainment.

This is gonna be grrreat! smokin’ and dancin’ at teh theatre…wait I do that everywhere… this will still be awwwesome! I rememeber seeing the Brooklyn simulcast in theatres and it was a ball.

Was just looking at this on Phish.com. I think the movie could be cool - I’ll see it, I’m sure - but I kind of agree with Doojer. Who, bless his heart, gets nailed to a cross every time he posts anything remotely critical of Phish, Inc. Instead of telling people you don’t agree with to “check their negative vibes at the door,” try just taking them for what they are - just plain opinions you don’t agree with, nothing more or less. It’s kind of weird to me to see certain perspectives on Phish get criticized b/c they don’t fall into lockstep with the rest of the masses.

Brian, What about taking a Flip Camera into the movie, putting 3D glasses over the lens and taping it for some black market PA feed? hey? LOL

^::Get’s an idea::
