Hopefully this will pick up support in the mod thread, but I wanted to go about it in a democratic way so I will post this here, too.
I enjoy the BracketBusters we do for songs, cover songs, etc. I want to do one where entire shows square off against one another. This would be a larger undertaking, as an informed vote would likely require listening to the majority of the two shows facing each other in a given round. We’d do our best to provide links and such to give everyone the opportunity to listen before voting.
I think it is also probably a good idea to exclude festivals, NYE shows, Halloween shows and other 3-setters simply because of not only the occasion, but because they include more music. Let’s stick to 2-set shows.
We’d probably start with either 32 or 64. Identifying either the top 32 or 64 shows in Phishtory is quite the undertaking, so I’d like to get thoughts from everyone. There will be shows included that people think shouldn’t be, and there will be shows left out. That’s just the way it is. I think it is also important that we try and include every era of Phish - from 80s through post-hiatus. Although the lion’s share, I think, would likely come from their 93-97 hey days.
