I think even without horns and percussion, push on till the day could be an extremely high energy phish song…a real gem in my opinion…treys lovvin every minute of it, i can only imagine mike, fish and pages take on it

if you had only ever heard indio loving cup or suzy though you might think those songs would be really weak without horns…the particular version that was posted is very horn-based but i could see phish rocking the main jam lick in the same way that they play that DWD high energy lick that opens and closes the jam
PS how cool is it at 5:50 in that video when trey literally holds the same note for almost a minute and half, followed by horn breakdown, followed by some high energy trey
I’ve always thought Suzy wasn’t ever as strong since I “grew up” on that '91 GCH show. AC/DC BAG as well. Those songs just aren’t as powerful (the written sections) without the horns. Not to say anything negative about the songs, but I was so used to the horns, the song just never punched me like they had before, and I know that’s how it would especially be if they played Push On.
I’d be interested to see how it came out, though.

I saw TAB play this without horns and still thought it brought punch. Would be cool to hear phish play it but doesn’t really matter much to me

agreed. each member has great stuff in their solo canon to bring to the phish table but i don’t think this is one of those songs. i really want some green sparrow songs showing up in a phish setting.
