phish should totally cover _______

It’s a bit of a cliche but they could easily jam on Instanbul as well…TMBG already does a nice little guitar intro to it when you see them live.

Said it before I’ll say it again:

Instead of them doing A Day in the Life encore, they should swap it out with Mean Mr. Mustard->Poly Pam->She Came in the Bathroom Window.

oh k. guy.

1983 a merman i sould turn to be- hendrix…absolutly my favorite hendrix song …and i could see phish absolutly killlllllling in and makin this sung a long cover perhaps…fish would nail the drum part about half way through with the epic hang time from mitch mitchell on that one part…and who wouldnt want to hear this song live…

also…

how many more times…zeppelin…i was praying to god they would cover it at fest 8 but they chose exile instead which was cool

any brain jonestown massacre song…this band is epppppic …and phish could do a cool version of
wisdom…or “love” or straight up and down …if u arent fimiliar with this band they are/were in the 90’s…a neo phsychedelic rock band and u should check them out if you like pshcyedelic indie music…indie is ok not my thing really but this band is killer

sittin on top of the world-cream

The Cars-Shake It Up

i would boycott phish if they did any dave matthews song (unless dave was an actual guest of course).

but back on tmbg songs that phish should play, i would love to hear self called nowhere, but i think it’s a bit too silly, even for phish. although i bet they would kill on a song like see the constellation, how can i sing like a girl or xtc vs. adam ant

Oh stop it. Phish covering a Dave song would be awesome. Don’t knock it til you hear it.

Went to this carnival, three years ago.
No big deal, ferris wheel, the same ole’ stuff you know.
There was a man outside with a speech outside a tent,
And he said it to me, and this is how it went.

Folks, you know she walks, she talks,
She crawls on her belly like a reptile.
Same ole’ line except one part,
You don’t need no money, boy, you pay with your heart

Oh Sharon, what do you do to these men?
You know the same rowdy crowd that was here last night is back again.

Wandered around, and looked around for a seat.
The light went low, and the band played a beat.
Out came this girl, wearing a scarf and sleeves
Did a little dance that made me weak in the knees.
That girl, she danced like her back had no bone.
The band played a tune called the Main Street Moan.

She smiled a smile the whole world could see.
She turned around, and she looked right at me.
I must have jumped six feet in the air,
And when I came down, that girl wasn’t there.

Oh Sharon, what do you do to these men?
You know the same rowdy crowd that was here last night is back again.

Out came this guy with a big ole’ beard,
And furry arms, man he looked like a bear.
He said that all there is, there’s no more to the show
If you wanna breathe right, I think you better go.
I didn’t think twice, headed straight for the door,
And when I left, I heard that big bear roar

Oh Sharon, what do you do to these men?
You know the same rowdy crowd that was here last night is back again.

Every time that carnival came, I was right there.
Lord, I learned to stay away from that mean ole’ bear.
Just like the man said from his speech at the start,
When that carnival left town it took a piece of my heart.
I still get this funny feeling way down in my bones,
Whenever I hear a band play the Main Street Moan.

Oh Sharon, what do you do to these men?
You know the same rowdy crowd that was here last night is back again.

Oh Sharon, what do you do to these men?
You know the same rowdy crowd that was here last night is back again.

very bluesy for Phish, but the place would go nuts if they played this on second night of a two night run…another band most of you all hate covers this song

Stepping Razor - Peter Tosh

Low Rider- War

This would be such a great song to open a show with.

Big Star - O My Soul

Oh my soul mama
I lose control
Go ahead, shake if you wanna
And I don’t really know
Come on
You know it’s all right
We’ve got all night

You’re driving me mad, now
You shouldn’t do that
Gotta get on up
Drink till we drop

You’re really a nice girl
And I think you’re the most
And when we’re together
I feel like a boss

Trying to see you
I knock off your doors
Dying to see you
I’m down on the floor

I can’t get a license
To drive my car
But, I don’t really need it
If I’m a big star

Never you mind
Go on and have a good time
Yes, indeed

Clones (We’re All) - Alice Cooper :ugeek:

Also covered very well by The Smashing Pumpkins back in the day…I think Phish could do some nasty shit with this though.

Fame - David Bowie.

Yup.

Jawbone- The Band
King Harvest- The Band
Amie- Pure Prairie League
Full Circle Song- Byrds
Changing Heart- Byrds
Tangled Up in Blue-Dylan

…sensing a pattern here

Spread your wings by Queen. if you don’t know this tune you should check it out. page could sing it and trey would rip up those little ascending riffs in the chorus. If any of you guys could get this request to the band, that would be very much appreciated - alpine day 1 set 1 would be perfect- thanks

If I’m not mistaken, they’ve played this a few times.

I know I had a show with Mr. Completely, Spread It Round, and Low Rider from '03. Good jamming. Weird choices… It’s strange that this was the first or second Phish SHOW I ever possesed! I haven’t listened to it in years. But I remember LOVING that 10-20 minute Mr. Completely!!! I used to try to play with Trey with my guitar plugged into an amp while blarring it in the Band Building in High School.

The show you are referring to is 7/15/2003 E Center, West Valley, UT

Set 1: AC/DC Bag > Ya Mar, Theme From the Bottom, Saw It Again, Poor Heart, Two Versions of Me, Secret Smile, Mike’s Song > I Am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove

Set 2: Mr. Completely -> Low Rider -> Big Black Furry Creature from Mars > Buried Alive > Big Black Furry Creature from Mars > Ha Ha Ha > Big Black Furry Creature from Mars > Mr. Completely > Spread It 'Round, Walls of the Cave, Golgi Apparatus > Slave to the Traffic Light

Encore: Sleeping Monkey

They also ‘played’ Low Rider a few other times. I don’t think they’ve ever actually played through the entire song as originally written, but it’s been a long time since I’ve heard the Ian’s Farm tapes. These later few versions just kind of sprung up out of jams:

8/21/1987 Ian’s Farm
7/10/94 SPAC
11/23/97 LJVMC
2/26/2003 Worcester
7/15/2003 West Valley

Compared to What - Les McCann
