First things first. I think Phish as the touring machines we once knew will never be again. I do think they will play together again. I don’t think it will be in the next 5 years at least and I don’t think it will be a full on tour. It would suprprise me greatly if they toured. They may do something here and there but that will be the extent of it. Phish demands too much of them and they aren’t willing to give everything over to the band anymore.
what do you think those reasons are, just out of curiosity.

Did you see the Charlie Rose interview w/Trey from 2004? Trey discusses how every tiny little decision became this board meeting thing, you know? The Undermind cover was a nightmare to settle on, while his Seis De Mayo cover was a fun and easy process. [Trey’s example.]
The fans’ expectations just grew more & more all the time, and fans just refused to accept lots of their newer music. Like any big famous band.
They were in the uncomfortable position of being leaders of the hippie world, which was a world that got pretty ugly after a while … I don’t know that I’d enjoy that either. I mean, thousands & thousands of kids out to get high first and listen second. I mean, I was at three of those festivals … I used to brag about how great that makes Phish look, but without the drug culture stigma, I seriously doubt they’d have drawn 80 thousand people.
Anyway, like half the great musicians of our time, I’m hoping & praying for Trey’s complete recovery. If Phish reunites, I hope they really really wanna be Phish again. And I hope they don’t come back like The Police did - no new music, 100% nostalgia … no hope for future projects. I envision a future Phish with some new tunes, tunes that make us go WOW! PHISH IS BACK!!
All the other hang-ups Phish as a band had, all those things that weighed them down, will either melt away or become easier to deal with once drug abuse isn’t a key issue.
Have you ever tried putting baby oil on your feet and going down a flight of wood stairs? Sounds pretty difficult to me. But I bet if I did it everyday, several times a day even, I would get quite good at it. After doing it long enough I would get so used to it I wouldn’t know how to navigate those steps without bathing my tootsies in Johnson’s everyday. Pretty soon I am putting baby oil on my feet to go everywhere. Why, I can’t remember a time when I didn’t put baby oil on my feet to do something. Go to the store, ride a bike, walk the dog, go to work. All of a sudden the simplest task can’t be accomplished without baby oil on my feet. Everyone says I’m crazy, “You’re leaving oil stains all over the place, Jerk!” my old lady says (but what does she know, that shit feels sooo good…).But eventually I am sure I would rather not do any of those things, it’s just too much of an effort. And without the baby oil on my feet nothing seems worth the hassle. I think I’ll just stay home and put baby oil on my feet.
But one day I may decide to stop putting baby oil on my feet. And pretty soon, without the oil on my feet, all those things that seemed like such a hassle have become part of everyday life once again. There’s no oil stains on the furniture, no one else is falling down the steps after me anymore (I guess I didn’t realize I was hurting others). And now life is livable once again. It all seems like such a blur, I can’t believe I put oil on my feet for so long. But now, without the slippery encumbrance, everything will just slide into place.
So, I guess what I’m trying to say is this: without the horse the ride isn’t as bumpy.

Speculating about rumors heard from a friend of a friend of a friend and/or talking about your “gut feeling” about Phish coming back or not doesn’t necessarily go hand in hand with acting like an adult.

I am not “worried” about it as my life does not revolve around it.
But, after looking back at all the threads and posts of late in this forum tell me, what about them seams mature? It’s all a joke, right? Well, it’s just one (several) that I don’t find particularly funny.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again. A free world is not a free-for-all world. Because we are at liberty to do as we chose is no reason to abandon civil restraint.
There is a reason PT and PZ don’t allow people to randomly post rumors, and it has payed off. I check their boards for real dish, and I come here to troll for a fight. :o
