Phishows.com - down indefinitely!!!

[b]Sorry, but phiSHows.com is currently on hiatus…

Over the past few years, I have spent many hours (and $) trying to create a user-friendly site for streaming and downloading as many Phish shows as possible. Throughout this experience, I have bounced around between web hosts, trying to find a home that is suitable for the particular needs of this site. Unfortunately, it appears that the server load requirements, bandwidth needs, and sheer size of the audio that is hosted here is too much for any shared hosting plan that I have found. Since Phish’s policies do not allow me to accept money of any kind for the site, and since I cannot afford to pay for a monthly dedicated hosting plan, I’m afraid that I am left with no other option than to put the site on hold for now.

If anyone out there is in the web hosting business and can offer an inexpensive plan with minimal resource restrictions, I would love to keep this place going. If you have any ideas or offers, please email me at webmaster@phishows.com.

Thanks to everyone for all the love you’ve given me, and hopefully we will see each other again.

I thought something was funny there recently.

Livephish.com is down as well. Last I checked, anyway.

I guess people are going to have to learn to use bittorrent.

Don’t be intimidated people. It’s not very hard.

NOOOOOOOOO!!!

panics

I’m definately not happy either!

i want the bit torrents, seems to be better quality sound for the most part. The google spreadsheets one can’t fig out either, how to do something with a .rar file? i I enjoyed phiSHows.com easy to use and fast. good luck

I don’t understand why he cannot accept donations… is that really in Phish’s policy? I use torrents too, but this resource was amazing for reference and to quickly listen to a good song. I would give him money for use.

you need to download winrar

I didn’t use phishows.com to download shows, I used it to stream songs… this is sad. :frowning:

I hope they can come back and continue to be one of the best Phish music sites.

^ yeah, that was my biggest use of phishows.com too… while at work i could stream any show i wanted (seemed like he had a majority of the circulated shows on there) and if it was a good AUD recording, i’d usually get home and download it if it was a show i didn’t have yet.

i assume he’ll get it back up somehow, no panic in me yet

also, i am not afraid of bittorrent, i own torrents like a mutha fucka :stuck_out_tongue:

I am not gonna miss it because i didnt know about it. But it sounds cool.

Free Stash at Nugs.net is nice too.

I’m glad atleast the spreadsheet project is still running

well… thankfully that didn’t last long. crankin it up now for something to work to…

4/28/2009 - phiSHows is back up!

Sorry for the downtime everyone…after a frustrating couple of months in which I was forced to move the site a few times, I was almost ready to throw in the towel on phiShows.com. But the response I received from everyone who emailed or posted online about the site being down made me realize that I had to find a way to continue. Thanks to everyone who offered suggestions for hosting - especially to Marshall, who pointed me towards the solution that I went with.

I also really appreciate the offers of donations toward my hosting fees - I have taken them to heart and now have a web host that supports direct donations, so when you make a donation you can be sure that 100% of it is being used to keep phiSHows.com alive. I have been hesitant to accept donations in the past because of Phish’s web and audio policies; however, I feel like this is a necessary risk to take, and hope that Phish will understand and not take any action against us. To make a donation, just click the button in the upper left corner of the site - and thanks!

Now go listen to some music and let’s all get ready for a great summer tour!

im glad everything worked out
thats a great site

I still had problems listening to a couple of shows.

Grrrr.

Glad to see this back up. This is what i first explored Phish’s live music with.
