Anyone going to the phix show at the double door tonight in Chicago…Going there with a bunch of my friends and would like to talk and meet up with anyone going and have a drink during the set break…

ok…so i went to the show last night and had a blast…family groove company opened up and they were really good and played a very nice set…so here comes phix…expectations are not too high as it is a “cover band” although i did listen to some of their shit off their website and was definitely impressed…they open up with golgi and i cannot help but laugh and smile…at first, i was thinking, this is too funny…then they go right into antelope>train song>antelope and i was like, that was pretty nice segue…these guys are for real…i am not gonna bore you with the whole setlist, but in general, i thought it was funny at first to be seeing a phish tribute band, but then realized that these guys really have some serious talent…especially the lead guitar and the keys tore it up all night…it was kind of a joke around the double door last night that the main guy was better than “post hiatus” trey…everyone was jokin around on that last night and to some extent…its true, but only for the fact that trey got downright sloppy sometimes in 03’ and 04’ but this guy knows his shit pretty well…also, they do a pretty good job of separating themselves by opening up more to their feeling of the music during the jams…the gin jam was definitely sick…last i want to mention, there was more energy in that place when they played yem for the last song before encore, it was unbelievable…the place was groovin hard and everyone was diggin it which means i am really gonna flip my lid when the boys come back as i got pretty amped up for these guys…so enough ramblimg…i would say go check them out for sure ($8) as it is in bars and small clubs and these guys do provide the “phix” that all of us are looking for currently and they do have some serious talent and take this shit very serious themselves…
