ya know, with trey’s words of not wanting to become a “nostalgia act” i am made to believe that there’s gonna be a lot of new music on the horizon for phish and we might have some songs, that used to be in the regular rotation, not show up as often - maybe not shelved completely, but just less frequent and more of a treat when those older tunes are actually played.
but what do i know?

That looks about right. I would say that, YEM, David Bowie and Down With Disease were probably played the most post-hiatus.
That being said, shelve Down With Disease. I can’t stand that song.
Uh, “Mike’s Song” was played an awful lot, too.
im surprised by some of these shelves, i still stick with guyute, and maybe would even say leave fluffhead on the shelf.

either would be fine for me. i would love it if they played a lot of new stuff. it would mean they are moving forward, not trying to get hung up on one thing for too long, thats one of the things that made phish great. it would also make this less of a reunion tour and more of a…new chapter?
Incidentally, I was just kidding about Theme. Just trying to get a rise out of Postal Hiatus Guy, who seems pretty angry lately.

I could, however, stand to shelve Simple…and Theme as well. Also, It’s Ice is not a favorite of mine either, slightly too deep/dark for me in parts

If I had to pick I would say Kung. Never really liked that or found much humor in it
Sparkle makes me want to kill. KILL. Fuckerpants, My Soul, Secret Smile, and some others need to go too.
^Everybody blasts My Soul, but I like it. Same with Character Zero. However, certain songs like Sparkle and Sample need to go.
If I had to pick one of the bigger songs to shelve, it’d be Guyute, and if it had to be a major jam vehicle, it’d probably be Bowie. Not that Bowie’s a bad song, its just I’d much rather hear a Mike’s, YEM, or a Reba to name a few.

Lots of surprising responses! I wouldn’t want to see any of that stuff shelved.
Personally I’d rather some of the more exhausted songs be played less frequently, but I can’t think of any one song that screams “shelf it!” … especially if they’re gonna play really well in general when they return.

I’d like to see “Gumbo” shelved, only because it has the word “shelf” in it.
it would be a shame to get gumbo a couple days later and put it along the top shelf…
i would agree with shelving theme from the bottom, never found a version that i got into (suggestions?)
