shelve :this:
am i the only one who doesnt mind simple? especially if its outside the context of a mikes
no i really enjoy simple, with or without the mikes, i do like the simples with the mikes though. 6-22-94 is a perfect example. its a unique song, and the band loves singing it, so i love it too
^
ok fuckin’ weird, I was just scrolling down to this post, haven’t even read it yet, and thought, “ha wonder what would happen if I said Bowie” and then thought even more, “or even Reba, just so I can stop obsessing over them playing it.” heh so I’m kinda there with ya!
Who said “Squirming Coil?”
Ghey.
I actually agree with whoever said “Guyute.”
Simple back when it first came out is great. Its when they slow the tempo down and drag it out to 15+ minutes that it starts to grate. It should be a fast, up tempo at about 8-10 minutes.
Is everyone else forgetting Sparkle? For real guys?
And I don’t have many Simples in my collection, but if they’re anything like the one from ALO, keep that in the sets!
i could do without another bowie i guess, reba is too cool to throw out. 6-22-94 simple rocks me everytime. the second set is about as cool as the 5-7-94 set from the bomb factory in dallas in terms of both of them being tied together moving through songs. 12-6-96 simple is good too. i would hate to see it shelved.
It’s not that I don’t like The Squirming Coil or Waste. They just get used way too many times in exactly the same places. Ballad encores are lame in my book. But what do I know…
I generally like Simple if it’s pre-97 or post-hiatus. Somewhere along the line it became the same fucking jam over and over, though. Maybe I’m crazy but I seem to recall that post-hiatus Simple’s were actually interesting…?? '96 Simples are pretty damn awesome, that was one of the jams of that year, yeah??
After days of thinking I have one (serious this time), Theme From the Bottom. Seriously.
indeed.
everything in its right place.
Theme kicks your ass. That’s why you don’t like it. Toughen up.
^ lol nail on the head… good call
YOU JUST CAN’T HANDLE THEME!! BITCH!!
seriously though. seriously? the more i think about it, i like what jaw said… nothing shelved, it’s just a matter of every tune having the right place, the right time - which i suppose is obvious in a way, but so true
If I am not going to be IN Hampton, I hope they shelve YEM, 2001, Fluffhead, Tube, Gin, and Jennifer Dances.

I hope they shelve Theme From The Bottom. Only tough guy frat boys think that’s a good song.
weird. i’m neither a tough guy or a frat boy and i like theme. weeeeiiiiiiiiird
ya know, with trey’s words of not wanting to become a “nostalgia act” i am made to believe that there’s gonna be a lot of new music on the horizon for phish and we might have some songs, that used to be in the regular rotation, not show up as often - maybe not shelved completely, but just less frequent and more of a treat when those older tunes are actually played.
but what do i know?
Maze
I just wanna hear a “The Connection -> Jam -> Access Me”
That looks about right. I would say that, YEM, David Bowie and Down With Disease were probably played the most post-hiatus.
That being said, shelve Down With Disease. I can’t stand that song.
Uh, “Mike’s Song” was played an awful lot, too.
