for the summer '96 tour, me and two friends from the cape took a greyhound bus out to park city, ut. we met some pretty interesting people along the way, but the ride couldn’t have been more uncomfortable. this was my first time west of the mississippi.

the bus dropped us off at wolf mountain, still a couple days before phish was to play. we met up with a kid who was riding solo, eric. he had just hopped off further tour for the park city show, i can’t remember if he went on to red rocks? anyway, he took us out to the wasatch valley for some great hiking/camping.
this is the only time i’ve seen wild cattle.

before the park city show, corey and i hitched a ride from this kid named mark from illinois. he offered to take us all the way to the ball! jeffro ended up hitching a ride with some kids from vermont. these pics were taken at a sand and gravel pit down the road from wolf mountain, the morning of 8/3. it seemed like every kid on tour stayed there that night! ;D

i ended up running into some friends (eric & neil) i had stayed with in nyc for the nye run. they were staying in this really cool bus their friend had made. this was also the first time i met jamie (aka jerryfreak), his future wife mindy and her brother rick.
i sat solo for 8/5 since all my friends were shut out.
a tortilla and marshmallow fight broke out pre-show.
