Presidential Election 2012

^Sure we do. Same thing that happened with alcohol. They needed to go the “medical” route with that, too. Fact is, it DOES have great medicinal value… and sometimes, in terms of stress, smoking it is better than eating it. But, yeah… of course it’s a more palatable step towards legalization. It should be. The fact that it is illegal anywhere in the US to cultivate and consume a plant flies in the face of everything this country was founded on. So, if people need to call it medicine in order to accept it, I’m all for that. All I know is it makes me a heck of a lot more productive and I don’t need a doctor, judge, police officer or politician telling me otherwise.

Prop 215 definitely changed my world and I’m sure as hell glad I voted for it.

Pretty simple. It’s a broken system. I’m not supporting an awful broken candidate system by participating in it. Not one candidate I vote for will change my life one bit. Occasionally a proposal here or there is worth going for but not a single candidate is worth the effort.

Yes, I know that it’s part of “freedom” but and such but I see no freedom in voting for this drivel. America’s “freedoms” are not in voting. It’s in being able to do and say what you want and putting it out there without repercussions. It’s the wacky music, books, blogs and writings, variety in foods, cultures, religions all of that mixed into one out there that is our freedom. It’s in how, for all this country’s racial/sex/religion issues, we’re still by far the most tolerant of all of these things. Folks can live here and do their thing in ways no they wouldn’t be able to elsewhere. That’s why it’s great. Voting for a broken, corrupt system that only enriches itself means little to me. Part of the freedom we have is we have a govt that we CAN ignore rather than have a govt whose actions demand attention.

On the weed thing, would you rather smoke a natural plant or take prescription pills? I can’t stand pills…they always have side effects and who the hell else knows what’s in those things. We VERY rarely have studies of the long-term effect of a lot of these pills, especially since most have been developed in just the last 10-20 years. We know what’s in pot. And if you’re having nausea, what would you rather have?..Pills or something natural that works instantly? And I should note I’ve had the pills before for nausea…they don’t do crap and made me drowsy…the pot made it go away and stay away. So at least in that case, the pot was just FAR more effective than the pills and less dangerous. Its sounds like the folks who are against it are acting like the pills are just as good and that’s just not true. There wouldn’t be this big push for medical marijuana if there were better alternatives. It’s a pain-reliever for sure. And if it’s put in a pill and sold in a box by a big pharmy company, do you trust that pill?..I sure as hell wouldn’t.

I agree…getting it for small aches and pains and such?..That’s abuse but there is abuse of drugs everywhere…I know folks who went to a doctor and complained of back pain and got vicatin. That type of thing just makes medical weed the same as any other drug. But if grandma has arthritis, she’s going to get SOMETHING for it…which is better?..pills that could have dangerous side effects or pot that doesn’t and may actually work better AND is cheaper? It’s not even close.

And it’s weird, after all this talk of me not voting, I’m suddenly getting some strange urge to vote Obama:

If only all ballots looked like this.

^But, the way that dress is designed…kinda makes me wanna…“vote for Romney”…

Just make sure you punch that hole good, my brother. We don’t want you to be left with a hanging chad.

^^

Stevo I’m just presenting the other side, it isn’t much a debate if all parties view it from one side.

Of note many of the cannabis derived drugs were approved back in the 80’s and 90’s.

you have to admit the volume of ailments pot helps or claims to help is overwhelming…

what hemorrhoids isn’t on that list??? C’mon!

Anyway we digress. Latest Gallup poll among likely voters:
Romney 51% +1
Obama 46% -1

Among registered voters:
Romney 48% +1
Obama 48% -

O supporters nervous yet?

This race is better than the Kentucky derby.

Polls don’t lie.

Keep drinking Mitt’s Kool-Aid Goldphish.
The election is not decided nationally. Ask Al Gore.

Obama is up in Ohio, Nevada, Iowa, Wisconsin.
Colorado is essentially tied, and Mitt is up in Florida and Virginia. (Real Clear Politics Averages)

Obama wins those four and the election is over.
Obama can lose Ohio, Florida, and Virginia and still win the election. If Mitt doesn’t win Ohio, it’s over.
I can kind of see Mitt winning the popular and Obama winning the electoral. Oh, now wouldn’t that be irony! Republicans would go ape shit. I would laugh my ass off.

But that, I guess, is why we vote. I guess we’ll see.

Anyway, the election will be decided this monday.

blog.constitutioncenter.org/2012 … correctly/

P.S., I voted today!
Love early voting, now I can pop open a beer and just watch the election results roll in on election night.

^i saw that blip about the student online poll…

so gamecat… your not nervous?

hey I called O winning this election months ago… I didn’t think it would be this close… or so they’d have us believe?

I am from Broward County Florida. I have learned my lesson with the hanging chads.

I have said it’s gonna be razor thin since day one. I do think BO will squeak out a win. But I would not be shocked if it didn’t happen. The only thing that would shock me would be an Obama landslide.

Kentucky derby, huh? Polo? Horses, right? Or racecars? I dunno you lost me with that one, grandpa. :stuck_out_tongue:

Not nervous at all.
I have faith in the American people (of Ohio  ).
Mitt lost the midwest as soon as he wrote that stupid article about the auto bailout. He will lose Ohio because of it and deserves too. So stupid. Now he’s gonna run ad’s in Minnesota!? All he is doing now is trying to bluff his way to win.

I’ve had a feeling this election would be just like Bush v Kerry awhile ago.
Republican are more anti-Obama, than Pro-Romney. Just like Dems were anti-Bush, not pro-Kerry.
You don’t win elections that way. Not to mention Romney’s like-abilty factor that I talked about earlier in this thread.

We’ll know who won before polls close in the west on election night.

In any case the race is closer than I thought it would be. I’m not so sure about Reps being more anti-Obama than pro-Romney… that was more the case in 08’ with McCain.

It can tip either way in the end, confident or not. We really don’t know. You know, this is the superbowl of politics… O has/had the advantage all along but so did the PATS AND LOOK WHAT THE GIANTS DID TO THEM TWICE. so yeah, if O wins i’ll be depressed for a few days but really no one can predict the future and who will actually be best for this country. I’ll be the first to admit that… maybe O winning a second term turns out to be the best for the country and world… and maybe not. It all comes down to Stash in the end, maybe so and maybe not. Either way Katy Perry will still look phenom in a tight mini.

Two things matter…

  1. Undecided
  2. Voter turnout rate

Two MORE issues the candidates never discussed. And these two are all that matters!

:shifty:

Ain’t that the truth.
I’d love to fill her ballot box.

^ha, you and every other red-blooded guy on the planet.

And according to Metallica nothing else matters. It will be decided if the undecided vote with their gray matter or white matter. One is fat the other skinny. One moves fast the other takes its time to consider. The impulses are what the fuck am i talking about? I don’t know jeeves, i don’t know.

This is obvious but I’m a political junkie with these elections. I was not like this in my younger years. I was all for Clinton because he smoked pot but didn’t inhale and played the sax. And screwed girls in oval office with cigars, what could be cooler! and I was all Gored in 2000 and was like wtf hanging chad sonofabitchchchc. That might have been the first prez debate I ever watched…and I thought Bush was all smug with his fuzzy numbers remark… and now i’m all oldish and voting conservative. Life has been anything but predictably unpredictable. If that makes sense.

Do you honestly think that there is anyone undecided anymore?
If you are really undecided this close to election day you (not you personally, undecided that is) have no business voting in the first place.

As far as voter turnout, Obama does have a very strong ground game.
He never closed his offices nationwide after '08 and they FAR outnumber Mitt’s.

As Goldphish said above, we’ll have to wait and see. And I like that Goldphish guy.
He makes me laugh. I need more of that.

No…I don’t (and that 4% is one reason the polls are so off). The undecided are voting Romney (why I feel he will win Ohio). And the turnout rate for Obama will not be a 13% of Blacks this time (the hype is not there anymore). Both of these factors don’t look good for Obama. Obama might even lose Pa.

Ok this is interesting: taxes and the economy, a report concluding lowering tax rates on the rich and capital gains negligibly effects economic growth. Though is concludes it doesn’t adversely affect growth… is increases growth, marginally. What lowering taxes does do is increase growth disparity… the poor don’t necessarily get poorer but the rich get richer. So thats essentially the argument against Mitt’s plan.

However one line sums up the argument against Obama:
“Trying to tax yourself to prosperity is like standing in a bucket and trying to lift yourself up by the handle.” - Winston Churchill

^Well said, friend. Except the Churchill bust thing, which really had nothing to do with how Obama feels about Churchill. He returned one of two Churchill busts-- the one that was on loan to gw bush-- and kept the other, which had been in the White House for decades.

And, speaking of busts…

Yeah, I kinda gathered that which is why I didn’t call you nasty names in my rebuttal. And I agree the ailments list is a bit silly but it underminds the stuff it does handle well.

And man, hemorrhoids SHOULD be on the list given that suppositories are the alternative. Weed or butt pills…you decide!

Nope. Those polls don’t count black folks. Probably not Latino folks either.

I’m just glad he’s stopped trying to pretend he’s some good ole Michigan boy because his Dad was governor here. He bailed out of this state when he was like ten and hasn’t looked back and always came here and claimed he was some Michigan kid. Thankfully, no one’s buying it this time.
