Proceed to What Follows - The Segue Project
[b]Main Entry: se
I will gladly judge and enter prize of Spooks for one week.
I mean… discs.
OK, I feel that this is something I’d love to do. But before I put my name down for entering a track, let me get my thinking cap on. Great idea Zoot. Great to see your name back here too.
i voted “judge and contribute” but i may toss my hat in the ring. i’m sure mine won’t be anything to write home about but it might be fun to give it a shot.
I just made one that’s pretty cool…but I think I may want to judge instead!
http://www.sendspace.com/file/ln8ipn …listen to that - I hope I followed all the rules.
nice work tube. the first tube>won’t get fooled again is very cool. i hope this gains momentum because we would end up with a thread of great music. i’ll wait until the end of the week to see if more people hop on before moving forward.
I love the idea of this, but how exactly would one segue two disparate pieces of music together?? Just do a fade out/fade in sort of thing??
Nevermind. I’ll enter a track or two in a few days time.
This is a great idea!
Unfortunately thats all I have to contribute. I have no means of doing anything with a dail-up connection, no knowledge of track this or that, nothing of value for a prize.
I can take up a little bandwidth with my useless posting? Ok, thats all. Hats off to ya Zoot for your creative ingenuity.
I’m in the process of making a beast.
greg - i am by no means proficient at mixing/editing but i was playing with some stuff earlier. audacity has several different functions. i was messing with the tempo and had some cool results. fade in/out is the easiest but if you look for breaks in the music you might be able to come up with a cool transition. you usually have to find a space where mike strays from a regular backbone groove. i tried working a twist into a jibboo and the best result i got was when i slowed a phrase down and worked at the end of a measure. its kind of fun to just mess with the tracks a bit. audacity its pretty user friendly. give it a shot.
I have to say, this is ridiculously fun. In particular trying to find non-Phish tracks that you can segue into and out of.
I’m out.
I’d love to be in, but I’m not, I’m out.
Here is my entry:

I call it “Wilson sips a Lively Roggae Road Gin”. Please enjoy!
WOW! The transition from Ride Sally Ride > Bathtub Gin is HOT!!!
As is Lively Up Yourself > Roggae.
Very nice.
that was REALLY cool…
I love the first 2 minutes.
(what Gin is that?)
damn cletus. thats fucking cool. the drop back into bathtub is perfect. nice work rinding grooves that match.
hey maybe we should just make this a project rather than a contest. toss out all the formalities and people can just throw down tracks for folks to check out. what do you guys think?
ooooh… the roggae just kicked in… brilliant!
I’m pretty sure it’s 7/10/99.
I might be mistaken though.
yeah I listened to that last night and I must say it was quite cool.
I’m just learning audacity, and I’m having a bit of trouble with fading in and out. My first project is Boogie On Reggae Woman > NICU. I figured I’d start small, and it’s kind of butchered, but I’m learning.
