Good call zoot!
How do you increase/decrease tempo?
It’s under the Effects menu.
I’m attempting to do the 07-10-99 Chalkdust Torture > Manteca. The keyword is attempting. I’ll post a shortened version here when I’m done fine tuning.
damn. this gives me a lot of respect for audio technicians. that shit is hard. here’s my attempt at ghost>coming in from the cold>moma. its not the smoothest because they’re quite different tempos… but i messed with the speeds a bit and the result is interesting to say the least. i’m going to try another soon. i need to give my head a rest. this is somewhat mind bending.

i can’t say they’re smooth segues by any means but i figure i’ll get closer with each attempt. it would help to be a drummer. ;D
I really liked the Tube sammitch. Very nice sounding.
Ian, yours was excellent as well… The Bob Marley threw me for a loop. That probably means you did a great job…
Downloading zoots entry now.
I enjoyed that Zoot, the Ghost>Cold works really well, but coming out of it into Moma needs a tweak. I can see how it can work though, keep frying your brain!
yeah its rough for sure… i tacked a bunch of things on the end and tried my best to mix. i think the key is looking for breakdown points in the songs. where only the drums or rhythm are playing. its too damn hard to mix bass lines!
This is a cool idea. Good job, Cletus and Zoot.

Here’s my first attempt. My theme was stop/start funk, and so I chose songs that use this.
I think everybody should post their tracklisting so we know where these songs are from. Here’s mine:
Ghost (11/28/97) > Miles Davis- Prelude (Part One) > NICU (8/9/04, Page’s solo) > Medeski, Scofield, Martin, and Wood- Little Walter Rides Again
BTW: great work so far everybody.
Here’s mine - The Horse > Caliban > My Friend, My Friend. I stuck with acoustics because they seemed easier, and since I was using acoustics I went with studio versions of the songs.
Edit: I made the transitions better, and removed a click that was making the first segue sound bad. I like this one a lot more.
nice work greg! the transition from prelude into the page solo was my favorite.
on a side note, when you’re mixing live and studio tracks you might want to play with the amplification. you can use the amplify button for certain sections so that they generally have the same levels and then you can “normalize” to eliminate any peaks. i’m just figuring this program out as well so if you guys find any other cool functions defintiely post em.
yeah i dig that drop down into page. i went back for a second listen. very cool.
dmakron - great acoustic segue!!
I actually used the Amplify thing to try to pump up the Ghost jam, but you can only amplify so much before it starts to distort the sound.
So, uh, how exactly do I work this contraption?
imagine if we collectively made a whole show?
I’ve attempted this…
I learned by a lot of trial and error and looking at the help menu. To use the effects you must have pressed the stop button and you must have part of the track highlighted. Those seem like the key points.
I’m having trouble just getting a track into the program. I’m dragging an mp3 into the window, and it’s just playing less than a second of gibberish.
Make sure its an MP3, it did that to me when I tried using AAC/MP4. To import them, go to the project tab, and click import audio.
Yeah, if it doesn’t import right, you may have to download a separate program to convert the audio files. Most of my music is in MP4 format, so I have to convert it to MP3 and then import it into Audacity.
