You can download shows of Sugarmegs, but they come out as one song. Does anyone know of any way to separate the show into songs so you can burn them/put them on an iPod? possibly without software you have to purchase?

Don’t want to be a cloud on a sunny day, but I don’t know how great those files are going to sound once burned. I believe it was Vern that shouted the words of wisdom that the quality has taken a severe hit in order to fit more.
But I have yet to try it out, so let me know once you try it out acoop!
oh, wow. i was wondering about this. i love sugarmegs but the DL comes off as 1 huge file. i can’t burn any of it onto disc!

i hope the sound doesn’t take a huge hit, although sugarmegs sound quality wasn’t fantastic to begin with.
i use audacity for recording, but how to divide tracks, simply by chopping it up and pasting it into seprate files. Enlighten me please.
SUGARMEGS SUCKS. It’s 40k. Really really really poor. Almost mono. It’s for STREAMING AUDIO not downloading. The soundquality is poor at best. Most CD’s you listen to, including songs you download off LIVE PHISH or MOMA DANCE (god forbid Momadance and it’s slow speeds) are 128k or higher. THAT IS MORE THAN TRIPLE WHAT SUGARMEGS OFFERS!!! Triple the sound quality!!! The 40k qulaity is complete crap.

Back in the day, Sugarmegs downloads were 128k…then they started adding meaningless bands and crappy sound quality shows…jeeeeez.
what do you suggest? I’ve got all Phish from Nugs, but my computer/connection speed can’t handle BT (so etree is out of the question). MomaDance has a decent selection of shows, but I’ve been downloading a 10MB file now for almost 10 minutes!!! argh!!! :-[
i don’t think bt would be a problem… it should just go as fast as your connection allows (some non-etree torrents drag at 30 kb/s… so a 56 k connection would work fine). you could just set them up to download overnight, or while your at work/school. take the plunge man… you’ll be glad you did.

true…I have BT downloaded, I just never really could get etree stuff to work. hmmmm…yes, just download shows while I’m at work. Brilliant! that’s 5 per week, 20 per month, 260 per year, 2600 per decade, 5200 per score, and 26000 per century!

Back whenever I USED TO download off of SUGARMEGS and everything sounded stereo and fat at 128k (it matters, believe me, it matters), I used SOUND FORGE or COOL EDIT.
VERN, I’m going to need some clarification: based on your responses, I can’t tell if you like Sugarmegs or not.
just resumed my momadance.com download this morning, waaaaay better speeds. i guess if you DL at odd hours then it’s a little better (60-70 kb/s)
Okay, I tried all this crap with audacity and it doesn’t work. The shows are way too compressed and I’m not technically savvy enough to figure this out. I’ll stick to my current methods I guess.
And yes, sugarmegs sound quality blows and I only use it to stream while I’m at work where I can’t crank it up.
I like Sugarmegs, but NOT for downloading. I stream from it sometimes to hear shows. Great Jefferson Airplane, Quicksilver, Zappa, Dead shows. But NOTHING worth downloading considering the poor poor quality of the files.
I use Sugarmegs purely for listening to rare and hard to find shows.
WISH THEY HAD THEIR DATABASE AVAILABLE AS HIGH QUALITY DOWNLOADS, THO…I would pay good monet for some of those shows.
I’ve been using Goldwave to separate tracks on stuff that I tape and stuff thats not already split. It’s also fairly easy to use.
so other than bt, sugarmegs, nugs, momadance, and gdlive are there anyother sites
