The 6/14/00 show is just one of those love it or hate it shows, IMO. The same reasons Will gave for hating it are the same reasons I love it. Naturally I see the things he says as the polar opposite, but the same jams he doesn’t like is exactly what I do like. It’s just a special show to me with a really special atmosphere and vibe to it.
Here’s some questionable livephish releases for you-
12/31/95- What’s so special about this show? Flubs galore, dull jams and the crowd has absolutely no energy.
Island Tour- Why do we need 4 shows? Lets just put all the neato tunes onto 2 discs like a live Dave Matthews Band release would. Who really wants to hear a 20 minute Roses are Free or a show opening with Mike’s Song.
7/15/98- This filler Bathtub Gin has to be the worst filler selection of all times
10/31/96- Talk about another show w/ no energy.
11/27/98- Wipeout? Gimme a break.
10/31/95- Since when did the Who have horns?
^
This is hilarious.
“Since when did the Who have horns?” ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D
O jeeze, when I was drunk I thought he was serious. Then I looked at it when I was sober. Whoops…
That show is playing in my car every damn day.
Only 'cause I’ve never heard it. I should go out and get that one.
It IS a good show. Not too long, much like the 7/10/99 show, but highlights taboot. I think the above-average “Reba” is GREAT, plus the “Suzy->JAM.” The “Drowned” is interesting. The show fizzles out after “Crosseyed,” though.
ahh…the fizzle-out…the downfall of many a fine show…It doesn’t have to start strong, but if a show builds momentum and hits this stride, then they drop the ball, that can totally kill your overall impression of a show…
so many legendary shows feature the fizzle-out, however, 6/19/04 SPAC comes to mind immediately, as soon as LimbxLimb hit I was like “Damn, this could have been the best show ever.” A truly great show, one for the ages, has to keep that momentum. What are other shows where they fizzle-out? The only thing that keeps 2/20/93 from being my favorite show ever is the fizzle-out ending. Some people would say 10/31/98 has the worst fizzle-out ending of them all, but I personally think its the best part of almost any '98 show period.
the fizzle-out…discuss further.
2/20/93 is more of a chill out than a fizzle-out…I’m sorry but that craziness is just too much!
Off the top of my head, the first one that comes to mind is the second show I attended - 9.23.00
Second set, we got a set-opening “Birds,” a strong “Tweezer” that segued nicely into “NICU,” and then a great “Muel.” Then they brought the house WAY down with a “FEFY,” which was played pretty good, though. I with they had kept the momentum up. Sometimes the band needs a break from the frenetic pace, though.
But an interesting topic to explore…
Hello, 911? I’d like to report a thread hi-jacking in progress.

Willy…that plane already crashed…I’m just trying to rescue some survivors.
I’ll start a new thread, then.
I’m glad some of you enjoyed my post from Friday night. I totally improv’d on that one or perhaps I would’ve saved the 12/31/95 comment for the end, as someone suggested.
I’ll tell you what is a questionable livephish release though- releasing 2 new 99cent downloads of Colorado '88 on Nov. 20, 3 weeks after the rest of the set was released. I had already burned all 3 discs and a 4th disc w/ the 5 bonus cuts. Had I known they’d add 2 more tracks, I would’ve waited and added those 2 w/ the other bonus cuts on my disc 4.
So in other words, I will not be purchasing mp3 99cent DL’s of Tela and Possum from '88. Those sneaky livephish bastards. How 'bout giving us a fall '96 or '97 gem instead of '88 leftovers.
Is this some kind of a joke?
I just read that in another thread, but I went to livephish for my Tela and 'tweren’t there. Kind of bummed about that too, since I also already burned my discs. Still, I’d gladly burn another; they are pretty cheap, afterall.
Holy shit, they did add Possum and Tela “MP3 singles” on Live Phish!! They really fucked up this Colorado release IMO. Give us what we want in any format we want; don’t force us to download to get it all…
my bad. twere.
The next release should be Chula Vista 99! I know i talk about this show alot and the Boogie On is one for the ages, but more than that it was just a purely magical night for the band and the fans. You see they and we were riding so high from the show the night before with Phil at Shoreline, and the energy seemed to carry over so much it was sick. Everything they played that night was so intense. In fact it should really be released as a DVD! This show is one of the main reasons i love 99 so much and to relive it by seeing it again would be such a treat!
Remember that you don’t have to pay for these … I got the email from Phish.com saying these new “clips” were up on their Colorado page. Well, they’re actually the complete songs, making paying $2 pointless (wonder if they’re laughing at some of us??). Here’s the link to download them:
hahaha! That’s crazy. Are they the same thing? Same bitrate and everything? Maybe it’s not intentional. I’d better move quick and get that Possum.
Good thing I’m not sore over 99 cents; I bought Tela the other day. The song, not the lady. Ladies aren’t for sale.
If the ones you bought are 128k, then they are the same.
