Did I write read that right??
that’s the only part of the show that is salvageable.
aside from that, its a slop fest.

I dunno…I’ve always liked the “BOAF” from this show. The “Wolfman’s” hits a nice peak but is too short for my liking.
But yes, other than the novelty of the “California Love” jam, the second set is pretty average jam-wise.
i like the gin filler
I usually turn it off when Trey finishes Guyute…
What a buzzkill.
Huh, the second set is my favorite part of the show. But this gives me an idea for another thread…
I wonder what this “idea” was.
I think it was the “substitute a Live Phish release” or something like that.
Anyway, to sort of “re-hash” the subject, I think for a release to be questionable you have to compare it shows surrounding it on a given tour while trying not to compare it to the entire Phish live show catalog.
By using that criteria, it makes me wonder why they released 7/10/99 and 7/15/98. You could call summer '99 and summer '98 “average tours” by Phish standards, but you can’t disagree that there were stronger shows on both tours. Although don’t get me wrong: I love both shows and listen to them frequently.
I can’t believe how many people don’t like live phish volume 17.
Yeah I like how Gordo personally picked 4 of these releases and they contained journal notes. I thought that was a nice touch. I really wish each band member picked 4 of their favorite shows. I think this was added a lot to it.
I can’t believe how many people don’t like live phish volume 17.
That and 07-10-1999 are at the top of my “Questionable” list.
Portland is sloppy.
a
Same here, for the most part.
There’s a difference between “questionable” and “not liking” the release.
I like the releases, and enjoy the shows, but I question why they didn’t release a stronger show from the same tours.
Why was any LivePhish release released before Big Cypress…this whole fucking system is questionable to me. I’m going to boycott livephish releases from here on out until they release Cypress in all it’s glory!
I know a lot of people question 7/10/99, but I think it was a good choice. Right before I listened to it for the first time, I was prepared hear a lackluster show, based on the way people talk about it. But I came away thinking it was one of the better shows in the LP series, although I can understand why people might put it into the questionable category. After 11/17/97 and 8/13/96, its probably the show I listen to the most out of the original 20 LPs.
I would say by far the most questionable is 6/14/00, with 7/15/98 coming in second.
I’m sure people will point out 7/15/03 Second Set as the best set from Summer 03, but I stand by 7/25/03 Set 2.
Including the 3 CD sets from '03 as official LP releases, 7/15/03 is my least favorite.
6/14/00 is one of my favorites.
Hmm, a questionable release… 6/22/94. I recall liking the first set… I’ll have to listen again, though.
I think perhaps this thread’s intention is just 1-20, so no Island Tour or '03 shows or NYE 95 or…you get my drift.
^ Way to put everyone in their place Neil.
