Wow, I thought I was about a month late for this show but I was cruisin’ RAQ’s website and it turns out that the show is tonight! Is anyone gonna’ go? It’s only $10, I’m for sure gonna’ go. ;D

my car is fucked…i cant drive that far.
Oh that’s right, I forgot you were out that far. Oh well man, they’ll be back. Anyway, I’m off to the show, can’t wait!

Wow! That show was incredible! There was so much energy it was unbelievable. There were only about 30 people in the whole place and the band totally delivered. Anyone who has the chance to see RAQ needs to do so ASAP.
good to hear. i would think they’ll get a bigger crowd here tomorrow, considering they were here last winter and played 10,000 lakes this summer. who knows…
^ Yam I would imagine that the Minnesota turn out would be good. This was the first time they played Ann Arbor in 2 and a half years, so that probably explains the turnout. 30 people or not, you could tell the band still gave it their all.
good crowd the other night, probably about 300 or so. good show though, i really liked it…
and from what i’ve heard it’s usually not like this, but their guitarist (who can absolutely SHRED) was WAAAAAYYY too busy, too many notes all night long…it just seemed a little overdone.
their keys guy is just top notch though, fun to watch him play.
funny cover choices. irony on a couple levels. first cover was “cheap sunglasses” which the weekly wednesday band at that club, God Johnson @ The Cabooze, has been playing for a bout a year or more, and do it better, IMO. RAQ played it about 10-15 clicks too fast, which was sort of a theme, they play everything too fast.
next cover was “have a cigar,” i love this tune. funny thing is that my band has been rehearsing it over the past week and we’re gonna play it at our gig this saturday.
THEN it was Green Day’s “When I Come Around.” do they usually play this song? looked like it was fun for them and they were having a good time, laughing and whatnot. i’d say about 50/50 in the crowd liked it. i thought it was alright. if it’s not something they play regularily i’m sure they just heard it on the radio on the way to the show or something. funny nonetheless.
but the best cover of the night was their second set closer…“cult of personality” by living colour. I LOVE THIS SONG and they ripped it apart…very well done.
wish i could comment on their original stuff, which i liked, but i’m just not very familiar with it. overall a B+ show for me.
/show rant
