(#1) 11/22/97 Hampton v (#8) 3/22/93 Sacramento, CA

My favorite Gamehendge, and the first set is no slouch either!

Pains me to vote against Hampton '97, but it has to be done.

Me too… :silent: :shh:

Saturday, 11/22/1997 Hampton Coliseum, Hampton, VA
Set 1: Mike’s Song -> I Am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove, Harry Hood, Train Song, Billy Breathes, Frankenstein, Izabella

Set 2: Halley’s Comet, Tweezer -> Black-Eyed Katy, Piper, Run Like an Antelope
Encore: Bouncing Around the Room, Tweezer Reprise

Notes: Fans of stage banter will want to seek out the second set for Trey’s humorous response to the crowd’s Destiny Unbound chant before Halley’s. Halley’s included a jam based on Zappa’s He Used to Cut the Grass. Tweezer included strong BEK teases well before the segue into BEK. The “Marco Esquandolas” lyric in Antelope was changed to “Michael Esquandolas.”

Notes: The second set included Gamehendge narration in between songs from Lizards through McGrupp. Weekapaug contained a Sundown tease from Mike. Amazing Grace was performed without microphones.

If this Hampton show goes out in the first round I’m’a roll some skulls!

I hate to see these two wonderful shows facing off in the first round, but I have to go with Hampton.

Maybe we should have included a Coventry show to make this easier.

Mike’s Song -> I Am Hydrogen > Weekapaug Groove, Harry Hood is the sickest shit ever. i pray daily for a livephish release…

Hampton

+1

tied?! if hampton loses i quit.

If Sacramento loses i quit

gamehenge pushing for the epic upset!

Shit…I picked 11/22/97 as my number one show, but I forgot about about 3/22/93…on top of the best performance of Gamehenge ever it is also followed by one of the great Mikes Grooves. No single song from this show is better than the Halley’s from 11/22, but overall 3/22/93 is a completely magical show unlike any other I’ve ever heard.

There are some sbds floating around that are top-notch quality. That might ease the pain a little.

My favorite Gamehendge… what a treat for that crowd!

:wtf:

i have the halley sbd, but havent seen anything else, though my aud recording i have is pretty good…

Yeah all of my aud recordings of fall 97 are sweet. I can appreciate a good aud recording more than a sbd sometimes. I used to have a sbd of hampton 97 on disc, but this was like 10 years ago and i got rid of all of my phish discs.

same. thats one of the shows on tape where the crowd comments really enhance the listening experience. im a total sucker for a good “HOLY S***!!!” after a song/jam

best one i can think of is the AUD i have of the IT tower jam. right at the end the first person you hear is some guy and he just yells “HOLY FVCKIN $H!T!!” at the top of his lungs as the crowd comes in after - priceless
