Slave…biased…not a big fan of Shine a Light.
Slave, unfortunately, hasn’t really been great in 2009 like it could be.

Perhaps I enjoy a good pissing in the ears, but I enjoyed this Slave. I thought it was awesome.

I absolutely loved Shine A Light in the Halloween set, it was beautiful. After that night seeing any of those songs doesn’t carry the same weight. If it had been Shine A Light from Indio it would get my vote no questions. But comparing the Miami version to Slave I have to go with Slave.

Both were great. Slave’s my song, but Shine A Light during this past NYE was a tearjerker.

Both were great moments but here’s why i went with Shine A Light.
the Slave at Alpine was a wonderful close to a wonderful set/run, but probably wouldn’t stand out if it was played earlier. Not that it wasn’t awesome but it was overshadowed by everything else that surrounded it.
A similar thing can be said about Shine A Light on NYE but the way and place it was put down seemed to take all the energy from the rest of the set, ball it up and shoot it up to the stars. Great emotional singalong in the middle of a raging set.
plus i just love the song and think its awesome to see it in Phish’s rotation.
