Recommend a show

I will be on a plane for five hours and will be listening to music for that entire time pretty much, so I wanted to ask everybody for some recommendations of shows to put on the old mp3 player.

All recommendations will be considered, i will probably download off of tela.sugarmegs.org I can get a entire show in (shitty quality) at like 50mb or so, then i can put two full shows on this small 128mb mp3 player. So I’ll start i was thinking of putting a show from the July 91 GCH tour on there, which show stands alone as the one to take, (the cheese stands alone)

Thanks for the ideas

As for July '91, 07-15 & 07-21 are the real winners.
Other recs would be
07-05-1994
07-06-1994
07-10-1997
07-25-1999
if you havent heard them yet.

ive only been on sugarmegs megs maybe once so i dont know the selection and also dont know what you have and havent heard but here are some shows ive been listening to lately…

11-04-1990: great great early phish, awesome hood
03-20-92:listened to thelot, dl’ed and was thoroughly impressed as well…solid reba
both those rec’s a mentioned of 94 i recently dl’ed of the 94 project on etree and are great shows respectively; my fav of that tour is still probably 06-11-94 though, amazing yem and top notch energy throughout the rest of the show
08-12-93: kind’ve overshadowed by next night but really good split, reba, and tweezer
and i prefer 07-23-97 to 07-10 but thats just me. i guess 07-10 is a little more of a dark horse. as disclaimer, my rec’s of course will not be as good or creative as augustus’ or thelot’s, etc.

thanks for the feeback

I will be thinking these over throughout the day and will pick some time this evening so they’ll be ready to go tomm before i head to the airport

thanks again all

7-18-99

12-18-99

“YEM!”

12.1.84

the selection is pretty damn big, roughly 77 % of every show played

no thanks on the first show or last show, gonna need more spice for my chicken

Okay, So I have ten choices here. Still not sure which one’s I’ll choose. Time to go pack the suitcase up.

nobody? common help a brother out

at least help narrow it down to five

anybody?

Me, I’d bring the 3/20/92 (wonder how that Brother is … my current favorite Brother is from exactly one week prior) …

Maybe that Oswego show - that was the first Phish festival I skipped, setlist looks fun …

And maybe Hampton '99. Another great looking setlist, full of tunes from the then-upcoming Farmhouse CD. Plus a Buffalo Bill & a fun encore.

hmmm couldnt decide between two gch shows

id take 7/6/94 over 7/5

you’ll want 3/20/92

oswego is a solid show too

yeah so it looks like im gonna go with

  1. 7/15/91
  2. 3/20/92
  3. 7/06/94

always did like the earlier era’s of phish the most

lets hope it’ll fit on 128mb of space

wahoo, it does

7/15/91 is 26.4mb
3/20/82 is 52.4mb
7/06/94 is 44.8mb

total mb = 123.6mb

amazing that three shows can fit on 128mb of space granted they play @ 44kb/sec

i know, that is horrible, but hey, three shows on 128mb will get me through the trip

i’m looking forward to the 3/20/92 show, for some reason i don’t think i’ve ever listened to that one before, or maybe i have, i def have listened to the 7/15/91 show, 7/6/94 i’ve only listened to once and that was while i was at work so it wasn’t fully listening, more or less background music… So now i’ll get to pay attention, or end up falling asleep on the plane listening to this

Thanks to everybody who helped me pick a few shows out, i hope somebody else got the desire to listen to one of the above mentioned shows, they all look tasty

44kbps???

Dude, I can cook food at better bit rates.

[I don’t get it either.]

?

The shows on tela play at 40kb sec instead of the standard mp3 128kb sec making their shows three times smaller than if it was 128kb. So say the show is 128kb sec and is 150mb the same show at 40kb sec would be <50mb in size, this allows tela to keep more music on their database. So when i use my 128mb mp3 player, i will d/l shows off of tela b/c i can fit a few of them onto the space.

Granted, it’s not high quality shit here but hey, I didn’t pay for this crappy mp3 player, and am not going to go buy another one when the one i have works.

[if any of this was stuff you didn’t get]

did i clear myself up, sorry if I was confusing

I’m sorry man … I was actually following you completely, and I myself was being sort of intentionally strange, what we would call back home, “funny”.

It didn’t work though, so I apologize.

It’s just a really low bit rate, and I was pretending to bust on that in a way that didn’t really make any sense, only it was intended to get a laugh.

44 is low man … let us know how your ears fare after all that. I keep some of my favorite shows on mp3 for my car at 256kbps, and I’m pretty sure I must have some others as low as 128. But 44… man.

They must sound like HwWwhHoOoosSSsHHhhHhhHHhssshshshshshshhshshshsshshhshshhhs.
