Chevy was the best news anchor, the best actor and the best writer that show’s ever had. I’d like to see Chevy make it all the way.

i went with Chevy because Murray has had the undeniable film career.
Chevy and Bill got into a fistfight backstage the year after Chevy left and he came back to host.
It’s mentioned in a great book: “Live From New York: An Uncensored History of Saturday Night Live” by Tom Shales and James Andrew Miller. I got in college and read it once or twice a year.
There’s also a good story about how for the first show’s airing the writers and some of the cast went to Aykroyd’s apartment and they all passed around these huge J’s. One of the writers had never smoked before, and he got real paranoid and locked himself in the bathroom. Aykroyd was outside the door saying “It’s OK man, we’re all stoned, we’re all paranoid” until the guy let him in and Aykroyd - before it had been done on the show - made the guy feel better by doing his radiator repairman/asscrack thing.
