Review of Particle 11/10/06 at the Knit, NYC.

Allright, so first of all, this show was originally scheduled for Irving Plaza, and then at the last minute they switched it to the Knitting Factory due to low ticket sales.
The show started around midnight. On jambase it said it started at 9, so I showed up about 9:30 only to be greeted by a shitload of serious punks with colored mohawks and studs waiting to see The Casualties. Then I went down to the tap bar and watched some weirdo performance art…
The opening act played downstairs at the Tap Bar while Particle started there set (too bad this didnt make any sense, because i would have liked to check out The Bridge)
Ok so now lets cut to the chase. Particle took the stage and I was ready to rock out. But then I started getting bored, I wasn’t sure if it was me or them. I was a little tired but I don’t know if that had anything to with it. But when it was good it was AWESOME! but at some points i just couldn’t get into it. And I was kind of suprised because I didn’t think i was gonna get into MMW but ended up loving it.
Maybe I had too many expectations. I had listened to 2 of their shows on archive.org and thought they sounded pretty good. I noticed they did some covers, and I was hoping for one of those, but it never happened.
After the show I talked with some seasoned show-goers from Pennsylvania, and they told me that it was okay to be bored. One of the dudes said that he’s seen the Disco Biscuits lots of times, and sometimes they do too many drugs and can’t play as well. (he took 5 hits of acid at a Bisco show once and was still bored…)
So I’m still trying to wrap my head around why I couldn’t feel this band, even though at some points I was having a great time. I guess in the end its all the factors that equal the outcome…booze, energy, vibes, and people. i have no idea…Oh the ending of the show was awesome because the Knitting Factory was the first place that Particle ever played in NYC, so they played us the 1st song they ever played as a band. 11/10/06 was also there 800 show to date.
