Thought this would be a fun bump.
I feel like there are no two consecutive Phish releases that are so completely different. The Rift release satisfied my expectations like no other Phish album since … and the Hoist release disappointed me a whole lot. Depends what you expect, I know, but man. What a contrast.

Love Rift, like Hoist. They are completely different albums with different purposes.
I like the attempt with Hoist to rearrange the songs specifically for the studio instead of trying to recreate the live sound; something they ultimately nailed on Billy Breathes. But yeah, the song writing and execution on Rift is stellar- vocals are a little flat though.
