Why hasn’t anyone posted?! This song is genius! I’ve had non-fans listen to it and they love it.
The jam out of this song on 2/16/03 is pretty gorgeous. It more or less stays within the confines of the “Round-Room-bouncy-uptempo” jam.
I’m thinking I need to hear more of Winter 2003.
^Yeah, you should hear the second night of Cinci! There’s some spaz on the board who raves about it almost as bigb spew’s love for 99!
I’ve only heard this tune at the Mike Gordon Band show in '03. Only Phish tune he played and I LOVED it. Such a great song, great to hear it with a pedal steel.
… And what is this talk of second night Cinci? Was I in the baffroom or something when they played it… Because I sure don’t remember!
I think he was commenting on the second night of Cincy '03 as a whole b/c I had said I needed to hear more Winter '03 Phish.
That’s a theory I have brewing.
Love the song and the album is my favorite studio Phish ever. This has some of Mike’s best lyrics ever.
^Best Mike’s lyrics yet…Agreed, but not best studio in my mind… The album bummed some of my friends out at first, but after I tortured them with the musings of playing it all the time, they gave in. This song shows the god given ability Mike has to write…
Good album, if not great!
7/13/03 has a really nice version of this tune.
Yes!! I just bought this show and this Round Room jam is MONEY. The 2/16 show reminds me of a fall '97 show in that there are stellar jams in both sets. The Bowie -> Catapult -> Bowie is easily the best post-hiatus Bowie I’ve ever heard.
I’ve posted this before, but not in here:

I think this characterizes their post-hiatus jamming style well.
I actually think it’s very atypical for a post-hiatus jam. Most post-hiatus jams are much more noisy and spacey. That one is upbeat and funky.
I wouldn’t use the word “most,” but definitely a good number of them. A higher percentage than pre-hiatus. And definitely a higher number than I would’ve liked. Typical in the sense that my favorite post-hiatus jams are not this wild-out-of-control-chaotic-wailing Trey-wall-of-sound jam but a quiet-hush-hush-groovy-everyone involved-jam.
I still think the jam from 2-16-03 characterizes their post-hiatus jamming style pretty well.
And I love this jam, btw.
Love the jam from 2-16-03!
Yeah Round ROOM JAMS are THE JAMS. NICE STUFF was brewing towards the end with this one…
