I tried to respond and had an extensive one, and then my power went out, and I didn’t feel like getting on to you all over again. I still have some things to say about that post. But not right now…
I’ve liked SCI but I’ve never been crazy about them. I bought a few of their live albums and have a couple bootlegs but I’ve never bought one of their studio albums and I’ve never been that interested to learn the song library and I never had the urge to drive to another state to see them. But if they toured and were coming to Michigan, then I’m totally there. I’m like that with a lot of other jambands like moe, bisco, etc…I’ll see them if they come by but that’s it. Ever since the hiatus that’s almost how I was for Phish as well though they hate Michigan and never come here.
Either way, I think if you compare SCI to the mountaineous loads of crappy bands out there, they’d be in the upper eschelon since, believe it or not, folks…the guys can frickin play. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Besides, they’re only stopping because Billy is leaving to do his own stuff. Give him a few years and he’ll come crawling back.

Billy’s heart is and always has been in bluegrass. When they come crawling out of there trancy k-hole back to Billy, that’s when they’ll get back together. That’s why I know it’s done for good. Travis said something like, “I used to listen to ALL KINDS of different types of music all of the time, but now, I only listen to electronic music, and that’s all I want to play.”
This is a band that I know, sadly, is done forever, unlike our boys!
