I couldn’t believe Django was over when it was. The movie flew by. A whole lot of peaks = not exactly sure how long the movie has been playing.
I know what you mean. I really liked the movie. There was definitely a moment I thought the movie had to be wrapping up ------> another 40 minutes.
With The Hobbit and Django Unchained out, I actually want to go to the movies for the first time in a long while. Very much look forward to both. I think I’m going to wait just a bit longer on The Hobbit for the crowds to dwindle. Maybe next week.
Last night I watched Our Idiot Brother with Paul Rudd and enjoyed it very much. Being partial to Paul, I was bound to like it, but it was surprisingly very good. He has this organic farming hippie ex girlfriend who talks the talk of a spiritual, peace loving person but is just a mean bitch. I’ve met a few of those, so that was funny in a relatable way. Also, it was sort of a love story between him and his dog, which was cool. They didn’t force a romantic component to the story and I think it helped the whole film move along better.

Just a fun little film that I saw awhile back…
Opted yesterday not to see the Hobbit because of its 2:46 runtime and went to see Lincoln instead. Didn’t notice its runtime only saved us 17 minutes.
Lincoln moved slowly at times but was worthwhile mostly for the performances of Daniel Day Lewis and Sally Field. The supporting cast was also very good, and so was some of the dialogue. Don’t know if the movie and director should get Oscars necessarily, but my opinions tend not to agree with the way Oscars are awarded anyway, so the point is moot.
Worth it just for Daniel Day Lewis.
I went and did the Hobbit yesterday, with the wife and kids. No complaints so far. I’m sure I can come up with some if I know me.
Wow, I also watched Our Idiot Brother yesterday and really liked it too! Must have been new this week on Showtime.Let’s just say his final profession is something I would love to do, if only it can sustain my current quality of living
So one of my co-workers is in a tizzy from the new Les Misérables film, he’s a Musical buff and said him and his Theater friends wanted to walkout of the Theater after hearing some of the singing that apparently was terrible (which some of you above also touched on)
Now, I know NOTHING about Broadway/Musicals, and my only experience with Les Mis was this film back in the 90’s, so again I know very little about how the singing should be.

But what I do know is if you are gonna to make a film about one of the most storied Musicals/Pseudo Opera’s of our time (according to experts in the field) and you want to have LIVE singing, just answer me one question:

Why would you hire this man to sing?!?!?!?!? ![]()
Have not watched this in over a Decade, forgot how great that Soundtrack is and Tommy Lee Jones is fuckin crazy in his role!!!
Dwight McClusky: Just how far do you think you’re gonna get?
Mickey: Right out the front door!
Dwight McClusky: THAT WILL NEVER HAPPEN!!!
Mickey: It IS happenin’.

The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Went to see it Wednesday. What more can I say than it was as magnificent as expected? Peter Jackson was definitely put on this earth to bring these stories to life on the big screen. It was his destiny.
Concur with this. But I also cannot let a Christmas season go by without watching Bill Murray’s Scrooged.
Watched Men In Black 3 last night on DVD. Although I never paid theater prices to see any of the MIB movies, they are among my favorite fun movies, and the third one did not let down on that fun feeling. A good second sequel if you enjoyed any of the MIBs.
Looper is crazy awesome.
I enjoyed The Guilt Trip.
The D is Silent is the best movie I’ve seen in a long ass time.
The bag head scene is worth the price of admission alone.
^ Lol yeah that was hilarious. I was just suprised at how good the movie was even when my expectations for it. Normally when I really want to see a movie I’m a bit disappointed with it, but that wasn’t the case with django.
I mean if someone doesn’t really like Pulp Fiction/Tarintino flicks then they probably won’t like it much. But if you do, it’s a must see for sure.
^That’s why I haven’t gone yet, though I’ve heard awesome things and probably will check it out eventually (on DVD or something). I’m a fan of the Kill Bill movies, but I can’t stand Pulp Fiction and I get the feeling that Django is more of a Pulp Fiction than a Kill Bill.
^ I would say it’s a mixture of both actually. If you liked Kill Bill I don’t think you will be disappointed with this movie. Personally I would put it closer to Kill Bill than Pulp Fiction. I just used PF as a reference because its one of my fav movies ever. But if push came to shove, I would probably put it into the Kill Bill cata. than Pulp Fiction. PF was much more dialogue driven than Django is. KB and Django are very similar now that I think about it. You’ll enjoy it
Cristoph Waltz has jumped into my top-three actors list with only two movies I have seen him in. He is just amazing, and how he switches languages so fluidly is just superb.
^^Good to know!
^Good to know!
Maybe it’s me but isn’t Kill Bill 1 the only Tarantino movie that is the “Kill Bill variety” with the crazy action? All his other movies (including Kill Bill 2) are super dialogue-heavy to me.
And Waltz is in Django too? He was awesome in Inglorious Bastards. Gotta check it out soon.
