Seen any good movies lately?

^Corrected.

Watched Argo last night. I liked it. Nothing out of this world, but it was entertaining and well made. I like how perfectly it felt like the time period. It could have been made in 1980 for how it looked and felt.

^I was really surprised that Argo won the best movie award last night. I plan on watching it in the next couple of days, and I’ve also heard from others it was very good so we will see. I was very happy that Django won some awards bc I figured it wouldn’t win anything with les Mis and Lincoln. Not that those awards mean shit but since I was watching it with the girl friend it made it more enjoyable

I want to see several movies after watching the oscars last night. Life of pi looks good as does les Mis and silver linings. I have seen Lincoln and I really didn’t care for it. I know “it’s history” and all that but it was extremely boring. I actually liked Abe Lincoln vampire hunter better

Thanks for this rec., watched it last night and it was really good. I’ll probably watch it again this week. I streamed it though so the picture quality wasn’t that great and so I couldn’t read what album it was that he gave Sam, the one that kept coming up over and over…?

It was a 45 of the Beatles “Something”. I’m glad you liked it man, it’s really a great movie and the girlfriend tells me the book is just as great.

“It was an old 45 record that had the Beatles’ song “Something.” I used to listen to it all the time when I was little and thinking about grown-up things. I would go to my bedroom window and stare at my reflection in the glass and the trees behind it and just listen to the song for hours. I decided then that when I met someone I thought was as beautiful as the song, I should give it to that person. And I didn’t mean beautiful on the outside. I meant beautiful in all ways.”

That’s the section from the book

OMG! But she’s so pretty and she looked so ugly!! Give her an Oscar!

thanks again! I’ll probably go pick up the book today

Life of Pi is a beautiful movie.

After seeing almost all nominated films… and letting them all sink in for a while… I think Silver Linings Playbook may be my pick for movie of the year. It is at times very “chick-flicky”… but it is the one that has really created a nice memory to me.

Maybe when I see it again I will change that opinion… but it rules.

Life of Pi looks like it was the movie that they academy WANTED to chose to win but couldn’t pull the trigger. You can always tell because it wins the Best Director and Best Writer and all those backhanded awards that imply that it should be a good movie but it somehow doesn’t win best movie. I never really understand the Best Director award anyway…how the heck do they know?

Silver Linings Playbook surprised me at how many nominations it got given it just seemed like a romantic comedy. Guess it was a better than average one.

Inside Llewyn Davis
I’m really looking forward to this flick.
I believe it’s loosely based on Dave Van Ronk’s memoir.
It’s not the official trailer, just one used by Sundance Fest. Should come out sometime this year though.

I’ll see anything from the Cohen Bros., but it’s the music that’s gonna be awesome.
T Bone Burnett is leading the way, who also helmed the Coens’ multi-platinum O Brother, Where Art Thou? soundtrack. Music is being written by Marcus Mumford, the Punch Brothers, Justin Timberlake and Oscar Isaac.

You can’t go wrong with F. Murray Abraham & John Goodman either.

this is on Netflix, and it’s pretty awesome…Aubrey Plaza is so sexy

What is that? I can’t see the image.

Safety Not Guaranteed

Not sure why this image isn’t working for y’all

Looks like a winner! Can’t wait.

Watched “Flight” last night and was kind of bored by it in spite of another wonderful performance by Denzel Washington. He’s pretty great in almost any movie he’s in. But the subject matter and script kind of left me flat especially since alcoholism is covered better in other movies, Barfly, Lost Weekend, Under The Volcano, Who’s Afraid of Virginia Wolf, Bad Santa, just to name a few.

Worth a rental just for Denzel.

I liked Argo well enough, but if that’s what qualifies a best pic win now, the film industry is in trouble. Definitely not movie of the year quality. I know it’s all fixed or what have you, but they could have at least picked something more worthy of the “honor.” (Django)

Gonna stream Argo tonight through the PC on Amazon. It’s not a free movie from Amazon Prime, but 3.99 isn’t bad since we were ready to spend 11 bucks a ticket to see it in a theater. Besides I have tons of Amazon credit card bucks that will easily cover the cost.

Given how stuffy the Oscar winners are, it’s shocking Argo won at all…it’s shocking that Tarantino even won a screenplay award. It’s still surprising they just didn’t go for the clichéd period piece in Lincoln.
