Saw Contraband the other day. DVR’ed a bunch of new(er) movies from a free trial of the costly channels.
Meh. Is Markie Mark ever going to play something different? I guess he did do Rockstar and Ted…

SO I finally watched Office Space, in its entirety, yesterday on Cable.
It’s pretty good. The main actor, Ron Livingston, had a minor role in Sex and the City. That was the first time I had seen him on TV, and his character is called ‘Berger.’ So the whole time I’m watching Office Space, I’m like, ‘Man, this is where Berger came from!’
Watched Argo and Flight this past week.
I actually like Flight a whole helluva lot.
Very intense movie and very powerful.
I would recommend each of these.
Pei-Yi, I cringed throughout your entire post
I agree with this.
Another thought after letting the movies sink in… Lincoln was crap.
I’ve only seen four of the nine nominated best pictures, and Argo was my least favorite. Don’t understand how it is considered ‘best picture’ unless it is once again Hollywood sucking its own dick because of it’s marginal participation in the rescue.
So far, until I see the remaining movies, my favorite was Silver Linings, followed by Pi, Lincoln, and then Argo.
Beasts of the Southern Wild
Silver Linings Playbook
Zero Dark Thirty
Lincoln
Les Miserables
Life of Pi
Amour
Django Unchained
Argo
I liked Argo.
But I was pretty much in the “anything but Les Mis” camp. Tom Hooper deserved a Razzie for that crap.
Amour is a work out to make it through. A fine film… but the subject matter and pace is a bit agonizing.
^^Don’t get me wrong, dooj, I liked Argo, a definitely good movie. Just not best picture material imo, especially in light of the competition (haven’t seen Les Mis yet so I can’t agree with you on that one).

Really lame, almost not worth a rental.
Watched the Perks of Being a Wallflower and really liked it. Thought it was going to be another Twilight level flick, but definitely not so. A really good rental especially for all the hight school outcasts.

^ Hmm … I must be one of the few that thought Perks of Being a Wallflower was just OK, and over-rated.
The acting was good; the plot was, well … kind of a non-plot really. For me, just a meh kind of a movie.
Finally watched this film:
I liked it.
Multi-Pass!
Watched a few over the last few weeks:
Kill the Irishman: Pretty decent
The Decendents: Loved it
Annie Hall: eh
Life is Beautiful: Unbelievably amazing
Ben Hur: Long, but pretty damn good
^^Agree on the Fifth Element. It’s campy at times but it’s really quite entertaining. The only part that kills me is that it’s like the year 3000 or something yet Bruce Willis still uses a simple matchbox.
Just watched this one, and liked it a lot as well.
Only thing that bugged me was these people are SO into music and they don’t know David Bowie. ![]()
This isn’t a new movie, but neither is it a Netflix download.
It IS a great movie and this scene is probably one of my all time favorites from any movie. Paddy Chayefsky was really so dead on throughout the whole script, especially if you see how television has evolved since the late 70s.
This single performance of maybe five minutes by Ned Beatty won him the best supporting oscar in 1976.

The Evil Dead remake is horrendous, and I can’t believe Sam Raimi would have anything to do with it.
^Yes, that’s what I’ve heard to. One quote from a friend was “I expected the worse and was still disappointed.”
Seen this movie a million times, and it just got better. Awsome in that-there 3D technology!

Watched the Best Exotic Marigold Hotel this past weekend and thought it was basically a waste of some very talented British actors.
