Seen any good movies lately?

Currently imdb is rating Cloverfield 8.1 out of 10. That’s pretty decent. Rotten Tomatoes is giving it around 76% which isn’t half bad from the typically snooty critics.

Just saw Superbad last night.

Very funny!!

Saw Cloverfield on Saturday. I loved it. My only gripe about it was that it was too short.

There were four people that had to leave the theatre during the movie. I know that the couple that was sitting right in front of me had to leave because she was getting sick. She stood up and couldn’t look at the screen anymore. She had the “I’m gonna yack” look on her face. Sucks to be her date, 'cause he kept watching the screen while they were walking out.
So yeah, don’t want to say too much as not too many people have seen it. But if you suffer from motion sickness, maybe not the best movie for you. I thought that it was worse (motion-sickness wise) that Blair Witch.

I watched Sunshine over the weekend. I think this was straight to video as I don’t remember seeing in advertised for theatres. Done by Danny Boyle (Trainspotting/28 Days Later, amongst others). Interesting plot involving the sun burning out and a mission sent to create a new star by dropping a ginormous warhead into it. The movie has a pretty good look to it, and the story moves along pretty quickly with the usual calamities in space (i.e. crew dying/accidents to central operations, etc.).

sunshine was in the theaters, just not for very long

Watched 3:10 to Yuma and Ratatoullie. 3:10 was awesome, great acting by Crowe and Bale. The Pixar film was cute but my fav remains Incredibles.

I actually watched a majority of Troy over the weekend. Of course, I flipped over to basketball during the boring, dialogue parts but the action parts were fairly cool. It rapes the original Iliad story in the ass in some parts but otherwise, it’s alright.

I finally saw Superbad as well this past weekend. Indeed I did enjoy it.

And then I watched “the Day After Tomorrow” the night before last, and that may have been the biggest wasted of 2 hours ever in my life. Just a completely horrible, hollywood blockbuster with zero good acting. It was actually funny how bad it was.

Video pick of the Week

Once upon a time in America 1984

Robert DeNiro
James Woods

Jewish Gangstas! Travel through the life of Noodles(DeNiro) who goes from street Hoodlum to Mafia Lord to Obscurity. Violence, Brotherhood and Betrayel make up my favorite Mob movie outside of the Godfather 1 and 2.

Wow. I just got done watching In The Shadow Of The Moon. It’s a documentary about the surviving crew members from NASA’s Apollo missions who tell their story in their own words. It is a shame that Neil Armstrong in the interviews as he is a bit of a recluse, but as is mentioned in the film it only adds to his persona. The footage was awe inspiring and the crew members have got to be the most humbling and gracious people I’ve seen talk in a long while. The music was well chosen and the editing and production was spot on. I can’t recommend this film enough, even if you aren’t into space or science you should still watch it just as a well documented progression of humanity and it’s ambitions, potential and ability to achieve.

To think that it all happened before I was born seems so strange because to me, going to the moon still seems like such a futuristic modern achievement. To be honest there were parts that almost brought a tear to my eye. Definitely one to watch.

hmm, I only just noticed how unintentionally well it matches my name.

Wow, I rented this once and thought it was really pretty dull. The childhood scenes were dull, the dialogue was dull, very little seemed to happen and it was about an hour and half too long. I actually found myself fast-forwarding a few parts which were killing me which I almost never do for some movies. Not to mention that the ending was about as anticlimactic as you can get. A big whole movie of nothing. And it’s strange because I usually love DeNiro but even he seemed dull. There are far better gangster movies out there.
