^^ I saw a small bit of that the other night, the part about Kauffman. I really liked what Seinfeld had to say about how pure his work was, how all that mattered to Andy was whether Andy thought it was funny.
had these out from the library this week, finally watched them last night
had never heard of it before i found it on the shelf. I gotta say i was expecting something a little different. Takes a while to establish a point or real story but i kind of like that. The first half of the movie is really just about absorbing the atmosphere so that by the time the drama starts happening, the novelty of circus life has worn off and you can get it.
and then i got this one, also one i had never heard of but its the library (free) so i figured i’d give it a shot. I was a little worried it was just gonna be a Rushmore rip off or something and although it kind of was, it wasn’t really and actually had some good moments. Funny and good but not essential if you’re going out of your way.
I simply cannot stop watching it. That scene where Ritchie goes over to visit Eli’s apartment, while he’s on peyote. Owen Wilson plays the ultimate drug addict. That scene is genius. You pick up something new evertime. The old porn. The paintings. You look in the bathroom, “Wait, is he growing weed back there? Oh Shit! It is weed!”
That’s one of my favorite things about Wes Anderson. His genius is that he wants to get that reaction aout of you, especially in this one.
I watched “Away We Go” yesterday and what was weird is that I’ve been jamming on the “Ain’t Got Nuttin” encore from a last week and that song was in the movie! Odd how that happens. Anyway, good flick.
When a crew of drug-dealing gang members takes the life of his only friend, Leonard (David Bradley), retired Marine and widower Harry Brown (Michael Caine) decides to take the law into his own hands. Helmed by first-time feature director Daniel Barber, this gritty vigilante thriller set in England also stars Emily Mortimer, Iain Glen, Jack O’Connell, Chris Wilson, Raza Jaffrey and Liam Cunningham.
Finally got to see Star Trek two weeks ago, and it was decent enough mostly because they made Uhuru a hottie. The story and effects were good, but I found the Kirk and Spock actors a little flat. Found the Chekov, Sulu, Bones and Scotty characters more believable. Worth a rental for sure.
