I watched Sherlock Holmes the other night. Not bad. The story is kind of boring, but Downey is pretty awesome. Too much action, not enough mystery, if you ask me.

Pretty damn good movie. And my infatuation with Charlize Theron continues.
She still looks amazing, even though she dulls it down big time for this movie. Not too many movies where she looks bad. Of course that does not include the serial killer movie and the one where she is involved with the sexual harassment stuff.
This movie was unbelievable! Check it out if you have not seen it!

^^ Agreed.

Enjoyed Christian Bale’s perfomance as Melvin Pervis, but was overall bored by this movie. Also watched,

Thought the animation good but the story lackluster.
I’ve had The Hangover in my mailbox since Friday. Haven’t had time to watch it. I am planning on it today. Hoping it lives up to the hype I have heard.
I heard it was like the most hilarious movie ever! LOL! OMFG! ROFL!!!111
I saw Superbad (on FX) on Saturday. It was pretty funny, I will admit.
The Hangover lived up to the hype for me.
the hangover is great. but to me everyone had said “greatest movie every”
and the hype fell through for me. but it was a great one none the less.
Marie has been curious about going to see the musical Mamma Mia on Broadway because the people in her office have told her how wonderful it was. I know Abbas music and have read enough to know that I’m not too keen on seeing it. So I rented the movie with Meryl Streep and Pierce Brosnan so she could see if she still wanted to spend 3 bills for a trip to the city to see the play.
My evil plan worked like a charm. Within twenty minutes she wanted the movie turned off, but I convinced her to stay with it because I wanted her to have no doubt that it was just too over the top, and boy, can Pierce Brosnan NOT sing.
Sorry, if I insult any Abba lovers, but gawd, was it awful.
Watched the new Star Trek the other day.
I’ve never been a fan… this was enjoyable.
I was confused during the whole Spock in the ice cave part.
Temperal weirdness. It’s one of the main Star Trek plot tools that keep the movie / episode so good.
The Borg, is another. When you combine the 2, you get some of the best Star Treks ever. Case in point: First Contact (Star Trek VIII) and the finale of Voyager.
I enjoyed this movie as well. Visually stimulating and the alternate timeline thing tingles my Trek-nerdhood

i watched this one the other night. george clooney plays this guy whose job is to fly all over the country and fire people. he loves his life and lack of personal baggage. when they decide to start firing people over video on the computer his job is in danger. he takes the new girl who invented the new process out on the road with him so she can get a feel about what he does. i’m not really making this sound too interesting but i really liked it.
“Life is Beautiful” is an excellent film! I love being reminded of it.
I didn’t find “The Hangover” very funny. I’m not sure if it’s me or the rest of the American viewing public. I like to think it’s everyone else.
I saw “Avatar” today. I enjoyed it. It certainly was engrossing and visually stunning, even if it wasn’t the greatest story ever told.
they are already making an avatar porn called assvatar. or something.
rule 34 at its finest.
watched funny people
not the funniest. but still good.
and i watched public enemys. i too was a little bored and found myself sneeking out for a smoke towards the end. but it was still a good movie.

Pretty cool. More a Kubrick-esque take on the sci-fi genre. It kind of dragged on a little towards the end, but the acting was solid, and overall it had a very 2001 style to it but done with more modern technology. I’d probably watch it again, which is something I don’t normally do with movies…so take that for what it’s worth.
This movie was amazing. watched it with my wife the other night. a great story. look for it on hbo…
Temple Grandin’s Story: A Remarkable Woman With Autism
Clare Danes plays the renowned animal scientist in a new HBO film debuting in February.
By Eve Pearlman
Temple Grandin, a new film biography about the best-selling author, renowned animal scientist, and perhaps America’s most famous person with autism, debuts in February on HBO with a strong cast and a sensitive narrative starring Claire Danes. It depicts a woman who is uniquely talented (she imagines the world through the eyes of the animals she studies) but also heartbreakingly hamstrung (everyday noises can be deafening and changes to routine debilitating).
The film – with Catherine O’Hara, Julia Ormond, and David Strathairn – traces Grandin’s life from nonverbal child to often-overwhelmed teenager to capable adult. Her ability to identify with animals, especially cattle, and to imagine how cows perceive and react to their environment led her to design more humane feedlots and slaughterhouses.
Now an award-winning professor of animal science at Colorado State University, Grandin, 62, also speaks at conferences on animal behavior as well as on autism. She is the author of several books, including Animals Make Us Human and The Way I See It: A Personal Look at Autism and Asperger’s.
Shortly after her own son was diagnosed with autism, New York-based producer Emily Gerson Saines committed herself to making a movie about Grandin after reading her book Thinking in Pictures. “The trick with this particular film,” she notes, “is that it couldn’t have a big old happy ending and Temple’s cured – because she’s not.”
The Nature of Autism
Grandin has autism, one of a group of autism spectrum disorders (ASDs). ASDs are developmental disabilities that cause a range of social, communication, and behavioral challenges; the severity varies widely from person to person. Autism is usually diagnosed in childhood, as with Grandin. As many as one in 150 U.S. children has some form of an ASD, according to the CDC.
But for Grandin, it is important to look beyond the label. “There is no black and white dividing line between autism and ‘geek’ and ‘nerd,’” she says. “When is it obsession and when is it perseverance? You can design a mind to be more social [or] more interested in things. And if we didn’t have people more interested in things, we wouldn’t even have a phone to talk on.”
Have to get this on disk when it comes out since I don’t get HBO. But I really like most of what Danes has done ever since 'My So-Called Life".

Great movie, Hilarious. Love Larry David, Evan Rachel Wood was awesome. Ed Begley Jr. rules. Good Woody Allen flick. Highly recommend it.
^^^I just saw an ad in a magazine for this movie today and was very excited about it. I saw Temple Grandin on a talk show a few years back discussing her book and have been intrigued ever since. She talked about making a box for herself, fashioned after something they put cattle in, that confines her body and brings her comfort by constricting her. I’m foggy on the details and not explaining it well, but I’m sure it is discussed in the film. I am appreciative of people who can offer first-hand insight into autism, a fascinating and very mysterious disorder, as we cannot possibly fathom even a fraction of what is going on inside their heads.
This is It, MJ, actually a good movie/musicomentry
