Seen any good movies lately?

I just finished watching the series Dead Like Me.

Only on for two seasons before being canceled, but a great show none-the-less.

Anybody ever see it? About an 18 year old girl who drops out of college, attempts to find a job… and ends up dieing from a toilet seat falling off a Russian space station. Well, instead of ending there, she becomes a Grim Reaper who must take souls from people just before they are murdered or accidentally killed to save them incredible pain.

Great acting, fun stories, and very humorous.

A movie came out, Dead Like Me: Life After Death, and I thought it was atrocious. A couple main characters were replaced, and a lot of the basic mythos surrounding the show was just dumped for the story.

So, if you haven’t seen this… I suggest watching the two seasons, and ignoring the movie

If you have hbo on demand then check out the mini series called The Corner! See how much you care about people who aren’t your’s!

Yes! God, I haven’t watched that since I lived in MA (like 6 years ago).

I just got both newer Batman movies on Bluray for $40. Seemed like a good deal. I’ve seen them both kind of recently, but still, Bluray.

Freaks roolz!

I saw the new Mel Gibson movie “Edge of Darkness” last weekend. It was so-so. I still have no idea why they called it “Edge of Darkness”". Has absolutely nothing to do with the movie. :wtf:

WOWOWOWOWOW!!! Holy shit, please see this movie if you haven’t already. So, so, so good. I had to just sit and collect myself for a good 10-15 minutes after the movie ended. Philip Seymour Hoffman completely and thoroughly blew me away with this one. I have never seen him give a performance like this. I guess I need to see “Before the Devil Knows You’re Dead” now, since I’ve heard he’s good in that one.

I had got bitten by the ol’ flu bug over the weekend so I all that I did was pretty much puke, pee out of my ass, and watch movies. Couple of notes here:

“Taking of Pelham 123” blows big time. Travolta gets his modern-day Pacino on by overacting throughout. Denzel’s character is run-of-the-mill, and the movie seems to want to end about 10 times before it finally does, very anti-climactically. Its like “Die Hard 5: Die Already.” I have seen the original and think it is also not very interesting, however with better acting. This one caused quite a few bowel movements just by being on my television. I was powerless against it’s awfulness.

“The Natural.” Haven’t seen this one for almost 15 years and it reminded me of how good it was the first time I saw it. I never realized the play on black/white, light/dark, good/evil that permeates the film all throughout and really gives a bigger meaning to Hobbe’s life. The dude misses out on a hell of a career, possibly the greatest ever but comes to realize that’s not all there is in life. “I wanted to walk down the street and have people stop and say, there goes Roy Hobbes, the greatest ballplayer that ever lived.” The movie’s great but Redford looked about 40 when he was supposed to be 20, which I suppose was just about right.

“Wolf.” I remember seeing this in the theater with my bro back in the day and I thought it was awesome. After watching it on cable I realized how much of a joke the movie is. There’s more holes than swiss cheese in the plot and Nicholson as the wolfman is crazy over-the-top. It’s okay tho, Jack will always be the man, even if he cashed a nice paycheck on this one. Watching him in “Chinatown” right now as a matter of fact. This one’s flawless.

finally saw Waiting For Guffman last night.

good stuff. Not quite as funny as Best in Show or Mighty Wind as far as i’m concerned but hilarious all the same!

Network is definitely a must see for everybody.

Law Abiding Citizen last night… It was ok, I like the thinking kind of movie but this was one that was almost 99% predictable…

Saw a preview for Spartacus…Yeah, Wow!!

I just watched Goodfellas on TV for like the millionth time last night.

One thing that struck me this time was just how good Ray Liotta is. Even with DeNiro and Pesci in half of his scenes Liotta just totally steals that show. Why doesn’t he get more leading roles? Anyone ever see Turbulance? He was in that right?

I just started the second season of Weeds. Pretty good!

just watched leaves of grass last night. edward norton plays a philosophy teacher. he also plays his twin brother who has a huge hydro grow house. when the weed growing brother gets in trouble with some other dealers he tricks his brother into coming back to their old town to help him pull off a scheme to fix everything. pretty good movie.

^I like most everything Norton does too, thanks!

Holy. Crap.

Might hit up Alice this weekend, I hope to see someone from the OKP review it soon though…

True story. but it hits close to home.

Mark Whitacre has worked for lysine developing company ADM for many years and has even found his way into upper management. But nothing has prepared him for the job he is about to undertake - being a spy for the FBI. Unwillingly pressured into working as an informant against the illegal price-fixing activities of his company, Whitacre gradually adopts the idea that he’s a true secret agent. But as his incessant lies keep piling up, his world begins crashing down around him.

ADM, Archer Daniels Midland. Decatur IL. i talk to a guy down there for parts about twice a week. we have techs that work there. i have been to the plant here in peoria and decatur. so i do have a somewhat biasd oppinion. but it was a great movie.

Re-watching an old favorite.

Nina and I saw Crazy Heart tonight. I love movies about fucked up people with shitloads of talent.

You wanna review? Here’s my .02

I really enjoyed it. It wasn’t as crazy wonderful as I thought it might be, but I didn’t want to hype it up so much that it lost its sparkle. . . .which it didn’t.

First of all, it is very dark, as are most Tim Burton flicks. I was expecting more humor than there was. On the contrary, it was mostly a very serious film. If you go into the film expecting it to be cartoonish and Disney, then you’d be wrong. It’s not a completely different movie, as all the characters are there plus some. Caterpiller, Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum, Rocking Horse dragonflies, Golf club flamingoes, etc . . .However, it is much more like the Alice sequel, especially towards the end.

Much emphasis is placed on the Jabberwocky, the creature in Lewis Carroll’s second book in the Alice series. In this movie, Alice is the chosen one in Wonderland 10 years after her first journey there. She must kill the horrible creature, controlled by the Red Queen (Helena Bonham Carter). If Alice finishes her job, then the rightful Queen (The White Queen and Anne Hathaway) will take the throne of Wonderland.

The Mad Hatter plays an interesting role. He’s mostly a good guy who helps Alice, but he is merely haunted by his past. One of the reasons why the movie takes a dark turn. Johnny Depp is always reliable to fill that whole dark role. However, as much as I love Johnny Depp, I was most impressed by the girl who played Alice. Not sure what her name is as I am too lazy and stoned at the moment to Google, but she was quite the little actress.

The 3D was alright. The only time I really enjoyed the 3D was at the very beginning with Alice’s first return to Wonderland. Brought all the colors and plants and such to life. Pretty cool. Also, it was nice during the ending sequence with the Jabberwocky. Pretty cool as well. Otherwise, not really worth the 10 or 12 bucks.

Overall, it was a decent movie. I’m glad I saw it. The classic Disney cartoon will always be my favorite, but this one was very well done. Tim Burton will always be one of my favorite filmmakers. Go see it! I don’t think you’ll be dissapointed.
