Watched GI Joe last night and still haven’t come up with a valid reason why.
2:38 but it seemed much, much longer.
Saw Shutter Island last weekend…I am a huge Scorcese fan but, DAMN this one sucked!
once again, would it be worth it to watch it once out of the redbox for a dollar? im always interested by that paranormal stuff.
I feel like that movie is very divisive because I have friend who hate it and friends who loved it.
I actually just saw that movie as well and I really liked it. It was a little long and stylistically overdone, but Leo has a great performance in it and I liked the plot. It doesn’t have as much action as a typical thriller, but I really liked the story and Scorcese tells it well.
watched “Rebbecca” last night.
an oooolllld Hitchcock movie with Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine.
really intense.
^If you liked that one, you should watch Wuthering Heights with Olivier and Merl Oberon, or Jane Eyre with Joan Fontain and Orson Welles.
Late this past Saturday afternoon as I was just finishing up the cleaning chores, I turned the TV on to Turner Classic Movies (my favorite of any cable channel right now because I haven’t had it previously, but I can see where it would get boring once the movies start repeating), and 12 Angry Men was just starting.
The play is just wonderful, and the 1957 version is just downright captivating, no matter how many times I’ve watched it, and I’ve watched it a bunch of times since I was twelve years old and not so angry.
^12 angry men is a great movie.
Best scene is when they are debating the knife and a juror pulls one out and stabs it into the table and says something like i got one down the road, anyone could have gotten it. That one scene always stuck to me from seeing it so many years ago.
I watched Mad Max 2 the other night on the History Channel of all places…I lol’d a lot.
I watched Mad Max 2 the other night on the History Channel of all places…I lol’d a lot.
Future Channel more like it!
HAYO!!
Watched Natural Born Killers last night for the (insert exaggerated number here) time. One of my favorites, the acting is amazing. I always catch something new too, this time it was the Steal Your Face on Mickey&Mallory’s windshield.
Also, thanks to recent discussion… I dug into The Hustler & The Color of Money for the first time. I loved the Hustler, good story and amazing acting. Jackie Gleason really blew me away. I think I liked The Color of Moneys story a bit better… and Cruise & Newman were both superb… however it had too many montages. That definitely made it feel dated to me.
Love NBK. That and Platoon are the only Oliver Stone movies I’ve found worthwhile, and that’s probably because the story for NBK was Tarantino’s.
Watched Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs, and even though my five year old gdaughter liked it, I thought it lacked soul.
Watched Serpico last night. True story of an honest cop in a corrupt department, starring Al Pacino. Check it out!

^ SERPICO is awesome! Talk about paranoia. Pacino is so good in that. Sure makes you think about cops.
Double feature weekend for me.
Saw:

&

The Hurt Locker was very good, but I’d have to say that it was not the best movie I saw this year.
I’m not quite sure I would have voted it the Best Picture at the Oscars.
Good story and great acting. Some very touching scenes too.
A very different kind of war movie which is cool to see, but it just didn’t really entertain me like alot of the movies I saw this year. And it really didn’t make me think. I like movies that you remember and think about the rest of the night. Not so with this one, just kinda of ended and I was like, “Oh,…well,…alright.”
So yeah, good rental for sure though.
District 9 was awesome. A Sci-Fi film unlike anything I’ve really seen before. Now, I’m no Sci-Fi junky, so there might be alot like this out there, but this one was really cool. Great story-telling and cinematography, like a news report or flashback kinda. The lead actor was very engaging and made you really feel for him or want him to succeed. I think the subplot was very smart and just an overall exciting film. I kinda wish I saw it in the theaters,…oh well. I think this was better the The Hurt Locker actually.
Very cool movie and great message. This one really had my attention long after it was over.
^^Serpico is really a success in how it really captures the paranoia aspect of “everyone’s out to get me” and Pacino really feels alone at times and it creates for great drama. Strangely, American Gangster has Russell Crowe in the exact same type of role but you never feel that paranoia with Crowe like you do in this one.
Also interesting that Pacino’s in every frickin scene and carries the entire movie…seems like a rarity these days.

A Coen brothers movie. Black comedy and one of the strangest flicks I’ve seen in a while. This was nominated for best picture but lost to the Hurt Locker. I was definitely laughing through this movie, but it pissed Marie off for the inanity of its characters. But life is inane at times, and all you can really do is laugh about it.

Didn’t hate it. Didn’t love it. But was entertained nonetheless, if even for a reunion between woody Harrelson and Bill Murray.
Nut up or shut up… WTF? LOL ![]()
Here are a bunch of foreign films I’ve watched over the last few months.

Sebastian, a young man, has decided to follow instructions intended for someone else, without knowing where they will take him. Something else he does not know is that Gerard Dorez, a cop on a knife-edge, is tailing him. When he reaches his destination, Sebastian falls into a degenerate, clandestine world of mental chaos behind closed doors in which men gamble on the lives of others men.
I included a write up for this one because I think you should go in fresh and not watch the preview. The preview is what hooked me on watching this film but I would have been more caught off guard had I not seen it. It’s pretty suspenseful.
Bronson
Das Boot
Thirst
Gomorrah
Sin Nombre
The Vanishing
i watched clash of the titans in 3D the other day. it was my first 3D movie although i had been on the 3D sponge bob squarepants simulator at carowinds. it seemed to have better 3D than the clash of the titans. i got there early and was talking to the usher sweeping the floor. she said that it wasn’t filmed in 3D but was converted or something. i still thought it was pretty good though. i’ve always been a fan of mythology and remember watching the original a long time ago.
