Shoreline lawn

Ok just to go along with all of the other “lawn threads”, I got tickets to Shoreline in August, and I have never been to a show there and have heard from multiple peeps that the lawn feels like it is really far away from the stage. Now being far away does not bother me as long as the sound is good, and really if it is a Phish show I am guaranteed a good time no matter what. So this really is not a huge concern for me, but I was curious if some of you west coasters could fill me (us) in on what the Shoreline venue is like? Lawn?

I am sure seeing a Phish show is San Fransisco is going to be insane, especially since it is the only California date of the Summer. See you all there!!

I didn’t mean to put this in the Live Phish section, so if it needs to be moved over to General, then feel free to do so. woops

The lawn is a bit far back but it’s a cool area. The sound is superb.

Shoreline is actually in Mountain View which about a good 40 minutes fom the city sans traffic. Your best bet if you don’t mind walking is taking the Rengstorff exit and heading away from the venue and parking on the street.

There’s an In-N-Out right on the freeway before you cross over the freeway on the bridge and walk towards Shoreline.

There are two dirt lots and VIP parking allows to park on concrete around the entrance to the venue.

It’s a great venue although it is right next to Google’s campus IIRC which is a bit odd

Almost forgot if you head a few blocks west on the corner is a great burrito shop caleld La Costena. They hold the world record for the world’s largest burrito.

^Yeah, the lawn isn’t that bad. Some people hate it because it’s kinda steep, but the vibe makes up for it, IMO. They allow short lawn chairs and blankets and soft sided coolers. If you wait in line for lower lawn, you’ll see the band okay but if you are further up it is a little far. There should be screens up there, too-- but sometimes they aren’t on. There’s a bar at the top.

I love Shoreline, no matter where I sit… the sound is awesome and the people are cool. SF is not right around the corner, but it’s worth driving the 20-40 minutes north and hanging out in one of the best cities on Earth!

Well I will be wanting to get as close to the front of the lawn as possible, so could you fill me in a little on this waiting in line thing?

Also, I am staying with friends in San Fran, have never been there and cannot wait!

It’s the pretty standard lowdown as far as the line goes. You just get there early and get in line-- there are a couple entrances and they’re easy to find. Once they let you in, head for your spot and stake your claim. Front lawn is best because you are closest to the band and you have nobody in front of you to fall on lol. But if you are in front on the lawn, you won’t see the screens-- they’ll be right above your head.

here are some pic I found:

Yeah, the venue looks really sweet. This line thing is still new to me. Every outdoor amphitheater I have been to, they just let everyone in at the same time through a giant gate in the rear of the venue so you can just run down the hill and stake your spot. Same general idea I guess they just don’t let you in from the back and there is more than one entrance.

^It might be different this time, ya never know. They change things up a little each time I come. I have been on the lawn for a few shows at Shoreline but for Phish I’ve always been reserved. It’s all the same lines for reserved and lawn (although, not many of the peeps with seats get in line) and they let you in at general entrances (one line at each entrance). When you get in, you’ll be in the outdoor corridors where the vending and stuff is (they’ve got awesome vending at shoreline… a whole little lawn with food stands and merch vendors… definitely get yourself some garlic fries :)) and you’re going to want to head straight to the back (you can enter the lawn from either side) to get to the lawn. Bring a blanket or some small lawn chairs to stake down your area.

Thanks a lot doojer. Your input has been helpful.
