Vernon Downs 98, fishman’s hometown show. great sleeping monkey. great show all around.
A fun song.
There’s something surprisingly intricate about this song. Maybe it’s the Let It Be part toward the end??
this song is without a doubt about a penis, correct?
I don’t see how it could be anything else…
it was just making me think, listening to this song, because my monkey has been sent home on the train far too often the past month or two.
::cries::
No, it’s about a monkey that sleeps.
Geesh!
Maybe it’s the fact that it sounds way to much like the old song “Home On The Range”, but I just cannot stand this song. Piss break for sure when this one starts being played
huh. yer right.
Live is a great way to get the FULL effect of this song. I love it!
Never was a huge fan of this one.
For some reason I love hearing them sing the line “Why’d you send my monkey on the train?”
how about the creek sleeping monkey>tweeprise? it’s sizzzzzling.
Indeed.
I don’t understand all the hate for the Monkey
I love this tune
I mean at first you feel sorry for the little guy, he’s depressed, lonely - just looking for something better or someone who will accept him for who he is.
We can identify with the Monkey - we’ve all been on that path.
And after many many days and weeks of hard work and growth he is finally accepted into the warm, loving environment he had so badly searched for.
Yes indeed, that Vernon (8/12/98) version is hands down the best I’ve ever heard - I’ve been listening to that show since the announcement of the release of Star Lake (8/11/98). Those were some damn good shows.
I’ve been really into this song lately. Never paid attention to it until one day it was stuck in my head. Now I’m constantly singing it. But what is this song about?
Boners.
Yeah, just ask James Franco. He was singing about it to Kate Mara and Amber Tamblyn in 127 Hours.
