True, although the “Gin” from 7/20/98 is no slouch itself. It’s actually quite good.
2 show opening, show-stopping “Gin’s” within 9 days of each other!

Set II: “Sweet Jane”
5:55 - 6:35
What an enthralling jam!
The Funk part of Mike’s just before Catapult, between the Catapult and Kung and between Kung and IDK at Memphis 99!
^oh yeah. Deep stuff right there.
another snippet:
Character Zero Halloween ‘96–from about 4:45-5:15. I’ve loved this version since the first time I heard it. Probably my favorite if I had to pick, but this specific segment is particularly rippin’. Mike’s bass line at about 4:50 is spectacular, and Trey is absolutely shredding.
Also Lp17- Harry Hood 9:17 -> 9:46 ONE NOTE! 29 seconds!
^ Excellent choice for a “snippet.” It’s all the mysteries of Phish in 29 seconds. I would think that Trey had that “look” on his face for the full 29 seconds. He has described his playing as listening to the sounds all around him. When I saw him live and up close I thought that he must be listening to sounds from his distant home planet that only he can hear. I sure do like those sounds though.
yeah, that note is long…NOT!!!
why dont you try a nearly 3 MINUTE LONG NOTE!
Harry Hood 11-16-1996 Omaha, NE (10:43 > 13:36) :o :o :o :o

this Hood also contains more LEIGH! FORHDAM! lyrics.
this is a top 20 set of mine.
enjoy!

yeah!
psyche!
extends hand out for hand shake, pulls it back and rubs side of head in cool motion
^^ Thanks for bringing this up and providing the song, A. I had never heard this before. That is a REALLY long note. The crowd keeps going nuts and the jam keeps going up and up and Trey keeps holding the note.
I just read on phish.net that he was dancing around the whole time he was holding the note. Badass. I fucking love Phish, I really don’t say that often enough.
yeah, this show circulates in video.
he’s rocking the fist pump the whole time!
a
Wow, what a Hood!
Thanks Augustus.
I love how crazy Fish is going off during the note.
Well, you showed me, didn’t you.
Seriously though, thanks for the download.
“Drowned”
6-29-00 I
8:40 - 9:00
These 20 seconds exemplify one of the reasons I dearly love Phish as a band. You can CLEARLY tell that they gradually leave the “Drowned” theme and go into a nice groove in those 20 seconds. It’s evident by the audience reaction as well.
This “Drowned” is in my top-3 favorites, and the segue into “Rock and Roll” might be my favorite Phish segue ever. Might be.

A nice minute of Mike.
8-03-2003
Ghost 13:15-13:40 ish
great climax and an all around amazing ghost
2-16-2003
Piper 16:30-16:50
awesome start/stop jamming
8-09-1993
Split Open and Melt 3:50-4:05
explodes into solo after vocal harmony
and too many others that i have listened to over and over and over again
12-28-95
Rift
3:55 - 4:20 (no I didn’t really mean for it to come out that way)
During the song the PA cuts out , and you can barely hear fish or mike, and just as Trey reaches the peak of the solo the PA cuts back in, the crowd freaks, and everything comes together so perfectly, it’s like it was a planned thing.
11/11/98 Gumbo.
from about 9:50 to 10:20. a bit of Mind Left Body feel but not in proper. the fact that that jam came out of Gumbo rules weak ass around the globe!
Green Mountain… the slave from the 4:50 point on…The Hood equally as shredding from say 6 on…VERY inyoface honorable mention to the Possum, fire, timber
