I’m actually surprised by the amount of people on this forum who keep a decent head on their shoulders at shows. Add another vote for never from me. I gorge like a maniac at any live music event, which explains why I can never remember set lists, people I meet there, where i parked my car etc…I get lost on the way to the restrooms, shit like that. I need my girlfriend or someone to babysit me usually
I like being able to find my own car… hehe…
For Phish, I never was sober. In fact, I got pretty fucked up at a few shows and was drunk at my last two…
Five years later and the story has changed. The last ten or so concerts I’ve been to (including Widespread Panic, twice), I’ve had a beer with dinner before the show or nothing at all. I don’t smoke, either. I enjoy the concert experience so much more now, and can’t wait to see Phish sober.
I’ll sometimes drink a few beers afterwards, though… 
But at the show, it’s H2O for me – bring on the $3.50 bottles! >:(

I definitely prefer to be sober. I’d rather not waste my time taking piss breaks and I haven’t puffed since 02. I firmly believe it makes for a much more rewarding experience, for me at least, to be clear as a bell. I feel like being fucked up cheapens it somehow. If I can’t get “there” from the music, then why am I there in the first place?
I very rarely smoke at all, and never at a show. As for drinking, I’ll usually have a few beers, but I’ll never get really drunk.
DEF. rewarding to stay as sober as possible…although, I must admit a festie night with shrooms is always nice too, no? maybe it’s just me, but i doubt it
to clarify, sober to me means no alcohol…
You know… if I have a choice I prefer smoke over drinking any day just because I’m so over the days of blurry nights and hangover marred mornings. You don’t have any of those pesky after effects with the weed.
That being said, if I’m going to a Phish show there is always at least weed, but preferably shrooms involved ( I’m a big fan of the fungus). As for other shows, I’ll have A beer… one, that’s it usually, and mabe a puff here and there if I happen to be next to a very generous neighbor.

Basically seems most like to be of normal mind and body huh? There will always be a puff here or there and a beer here or there, throw in the occasional ‘cap or two’ it seems like we have a fairly decently sober or at least in control group!

^ I agree. If I’m at any other show, I like to get pretty drunk, but with Phish, it’s completely different. My friends at Coventry were trying to feed me stuff all weekend from rolls to fungus to doses, but I just wasn’t interested. My favorite was “lick your finger, you’re taking this acid!”. But I politely declined and am not sorry I did so.
Whatever…based on the fact that this thread is 2 pages and the Drunk/Sonted thread is like 150 pages, I’ll assume that you all love to party and will get down with me when we do this thing up for real.
If I get tickets to any of the Hampton shows, I’m wearing a suit.

I was also thinking of trying to get a good theme type outfit to wear, I might go back to the drawing board on this, it has to breathe as I am sure the dance will make me sweat…Hmmm…

i don’t like getting drunk for big shows, i don’t know why. small, local bar shows; sure no problem. but big arena shows i tend to stay sober.
as far as Phish shows go, i will of course puff a hooter or two, but other than that…
i’ve actually tried several times to get some good psychedelics into my system, but i’m a magnet for bunk product. so, i’ve never tripped at a show, but i’ve tried to several times. i did get ahold of what turned out to be good ecstasy at Cypress, and that was very fun. but i’m not really a pills/powders guy anyway.
