Songs you're convinced we won't see again

SSIA.

They’ll likely shelve some fan favorites (not HUGE show stoppers or anything), but would it really surprise someone if we didn’t see, say, a “Dog Log” again?

I don’t see them pulling out Proud Mary again any time soon.

shakes fist

Not to give one o’ them non-answers, but I hope the entire discography is game. If they’re serious and passionate, then they’re practicing. I imagine that part of the fun of being Phish is utilizing all of your songs on stage at one time or other. When they were firing on all cylinders, they played a larger percentage of their material.

But maybe we’ve seen the last … Riker’s Mailbox? End of Session?

^Concur, but the practicing is key. Many of their early compositions requires a level of precision for which rehearsal or constant playing is necessary. But as you say, if they’re serious about playing together the way they did, the whole songbook is fodder for the shows.

I am not sure anything would be off limits, I mean why…? I feel they’re going to show us what jammin is and nothing is off the deack. Some might be in the very far back of the deck but still viable…

Yeah…! This will be so much fun!

They did not play Esther, Fluffhead or Tela post hiatus to name a few. I have no doubt that those 3 amongst the others will show up again. Certain covers and Fishman tunes on the other hand i can see them shelving forever. I even think we may get “Fell in a Hole” again one day!

I guess there are a few songs you might not hear again, but I think their books are open wide, for sometime too…

I don’t think we’ve seen (heard) the last of Dog Log.

Back at the Chicken Shack??
I’d love to hear it again sometime though, it has such a nice groove when it’s Phishified.

i think in part because they require rehearsal time the band was willing to give

do you think well get a harpua if they tour again? icculus or sanity?

yes, no, yes
but thats just my opinion =)

I’m guessing we’ll never see:

-Anarchy
-Riker’s Mailbox
-Manteca
-Revolution
-Lengthwise
-ANYTHING Off The Siket Disc
-Your Blood
-Backrub Tool
-End Of Session
-Dave’s Energy Guide
-Eliza
-Ingest
-Mid-Fi Metal
-Old Age
-At The BBQ
-Montana

Good thing I don’t care about those.

Noooooo… they must play Montana!

I don’t think they’ll completely shelve anything. Some songs might not be played for a long time, but I think any song will have the potential to be played at any given show, unless of course it was played at the previous nights show.

You don’t care about Manteca???

Icc is right. I think they will shelve a LOT of stuff in favor of new tunes. That’s been their MO for their entire career. Letter to Jimmy Page? Alumni Blues? New tunes overshadowed the old ones, despite a few bust outs.

There is a great article on Jambands called “Let Phish be Phish”, regarding the band and musical progress. I think a lot of stuff from Undermind never got see the light of day in a live setting. I say, let them do what they will and progress. I would rather see Phish move forward and progress. Not become a nostalgia act!

I almost am willing to call out Augustus to see how he would respond to this. But i am not that cruel.

I think we’ve seen the last of Mock Song…what was it only played once to begin with. Didn’t seem to catch on. Oh and I disagree with the Siket Disc response. I think they’ll continue to play What’s The Use.
