prob one of the most complex phish songs to play, with the different timings and all, has to be foam. pytie is always the same in concert. though it had good crowd appeal (hey!) foam blows this one away musically.
^Definitely true, and PYITE is the one I would have voted for, had it not been for the goodness of a good Foam. I want to see more of a fight over these two great songs, so I voted for Foam just to get them closer.

I’ve never been a big fan of Punch, preferring Landlady on its own. I like the intro harmonics thing, and the Hey! … and the ending chaos is real good. But the verses/choruses and the Landlady section … and that’s the bulk of the tune … I could live without.
Foam on the other hand, … without Foam maybe I would be dead. Classic Phish right there.

I like my cap steaming hot w/ a little FOAM. I like punch but find myself agreeing, once again, with hose on this one. As much as I like the beginning of punch I love the possibility of such a lovely build up in foam… and when they do build it up it just screams.
This is one of the hardest choices I’ve had to make. Foam is just a little more complex of a composition and that really pushes it over the edge in this particular instance.

I gotta agree with ICC and TR on this. I think that Punch is one of (if not THE) show opener. I just starts the show with such a bang. I do agree that Foam is much more complex, and an amazing song taboot, but it just seems to me that when it’s on, it’s really on, but when they’re off, they’re really off. It’s very hit or miss. I know that the same can be said for Punch, but whatever…
