I always forget if this segues into Swept Away or vice versa. Either way, I like it.
Interestingly enough, when you soak tea bags, that is known as ‘steeping.’ And they mention “soaking through the filter” on ‘Talk.’ Thesis: Billy Breathes is about tea.

The Dayton '97 version is very nice, and the crash back into Its Ice is beautiful.
Also… I believe it is one of the Halloween shows, where the Swept>Steep comes out of Simple.
That is a really great segue as well.

The most memorable thing about this song to me is the scream added to the end on Halloween '96. There’s something insane about a quiet song suddenly jumping into a haunting screech and then dissolving into the calm-but-shaken opening chords of Jesus Just Left Chicago.
Goddammit that steep jam is so on. Beautifully paced, builds, peaks, twists, dissolves. Words fail me. Haven’t heard a phish jam that stirred me like that in a long time.
Just listened to the BD version for the first time since hearing it live. It really is quite an extraordinary journey. Trey’s playing is exquisite throughout.
