Stranger Things 2

Only nine episodes? :astonished:

I liked it. It was as good as the first season. Lots of 80s stuff to look for as the backdrop to a cool story. I liked the new characters. Madmax with the new high scores at the arcade and her step brother, who had an interesting encounter with Mrs…Nancy and Mike’s mom. Mad About You guy as the scientist. I also liked Dustin with his pet. He apologized for putting it in the cellar but said it did eat his cat. Dustin’s mom was crazy. Steve with the younger kids was funny. The guy that Nancy and older brother guy take the info to. Nancy and older brother guy hooking up. Lots of stuff, but no time to remember it all right now.

I saw a video about the Duffer brothers basing the story on Montauk and MKUltra.
I can’t find that video now, but I think this mentions it:

I give it a solid A.

Loved the new characters, especially Bob (Sean Astin) and Murray (Brett Gelman). Though I did f*cking HATE Lucas’ sister. I hoped she would be eaten. Crosses fingers for next season

That encounter with Nancy’s mom had me ROFL’ing.

Thought it was pretty good, Better than I expected. Enjoyed samwise gamgee’s death. First episode it felt like the shark had gone airborn a bit but after that I was happy.

Seems like the show gets a lot of hype despite being just about some weird spooky stuff. I’m kind of curious on why this show above all the others.

^ strongly defined and likeable characters; cast chemistry; dramatic shifts in tone (very light to very dark); some people dig the "nostalgia porn " and Easter eggs. The show has a lot going for it.

We’ve seen 011 and 008. How many are there?

I thought season 2 was much weaker than season 1. Less mysterious, more horror.

^well there might not be more than 11, unless the program kept going on after 011 (is it better to call her Jane now?) escaped…

My prediction for season 3:

The A plot is going to be about the four boys investigating the mysterious fire that burnt down Lucas’ house. First they blame Hawkins Lab, then they blame a demigorgan, but it turns out that this small town in Indiana is hiding another secret - Hawkins is horribly racist. Joyce (who is struggling to pay for the psychiatric help she and her son needs) has to rescue Will from his own deep-seated racism. While playing Dungeons and Dragons, Jane (Eleven) realizes that she might be too cool to hang out with the AV club.

The B plot is going to revolve around Nancy and Jonathan rounding up all the copies of a tape Murray made of the young couple having sex in his guest room.

In the C plot, Hopper is also investigating the Sinclair arson, but every time he follows a lead, he has to explain to the suspect or witness why he suddenly has a daughter.

We’ve seen 011 and 008. How many are there?

At least 11, I assume.

Also, I originally felt bad at thinking the Nancy girl was good-looking but then I saw the actress is like 21 so now I feel better.

Loved this season. More action while still creating interesting character storylines.

I like it as much, if not more, than season one.

The thing I noticed is in her bedroom, she had drawn quite a few pictures of sunflowers and rainbows… :astonished:

I enjoyed reading this prediction and look forward to seeing it play out.

I also like the phrase ā€œnostalgia pornā€ mentioned above. That’s a primary reason I enjoy it so much. The thing that places ST above a typical movie or show set in the 80s, is that it genuinely feels like it’s from the 80s.

I enjoyed season 2, but I thought season 1 was better. Maybe it was my expectations though, I had absolutely none going into S1. Then I thought it was great and S2 had a really tough act to follow.

And I’ll just leave this here.

Also, you can’t use the HTML img tag on the OKP? WTF?

Naw, we’ve never had html here. Just ā€œYABB codesā€ or whatever they’re called now.
