I’m liking the preview on LP. Sounds funktastic!
okay after listening to the whole thing… i like this song. trey messed up part of it, but all things in time.
also, doesn’t it sound like it couldve come off of green sparrow? at least with mike’s style of singing and such?
woooooooooooooooooooooo Fucking obsessed with this song now. Even though trey messed up that one part it still shows unbelievable promise. I love the sound of mikes voice on it and the chord structure is really tasteful. Definately sounds like a sparrow tune except even better because its PHISH
great song
love love love Mike tunes.
lovin Sugar Shack, can’t wait to hear some more Mike songs
i like mike songs alot. they are usually so weird and good and interesting and awesome!
The breakdown is fucking awesome. I could see that being a real nice springboard for some interesting jams.
waiting with great anticipation for this studio version. Heard it live at Camden and it was the SHIT!!!
enjoying the Red Rocks Version
Greatest song ever. Does anyone have a copy of the lyrics?
I like the weirdness of Mike feel in the music, but this chorus just sounds too random to me. I don’t like it.
I LOVE the groove in the beginning though, and wish they would have built on that…
Really digging this song a lot…loved it in Camden and it’s growing on me in Studio as well.
best song from Joy
I concur
Listening to “Joy” right now and Sugar Shack is definitely a stand out. I’m also really digging “Light” quite a bit. Of course, “Kill Devil Falls”, “Ocelot”, and “Backwards Down the Number Line” got rotated through the setlists pretty heavily this summer so I’m quite familiar with those, and like 'em too!
Standing on the edge of the cliff, I start to slip.
Don’t mind if I slide off.
Now I feel my mood start to lift, I find my grip and the screaming fades away below.
I grab myself and spin me around I start to sprint.
I climb down to steadier ground.
If I can bushwhack it on back to the shack behind those hills I’ll find the world is finally still.
Run through pale dark woods to that Sugar Shack
Breathe warm steam and hide in that old Sugar Shack.
Boiling heat, maple steam frozen snow then it flows.
When you leave, maple trees wait till spring to go again.
A mosaic of lies I tried to arrange in ways that shelter the blame.

I though I might have made off clear with all of the loot.
I plucked and ate all the fruit.
Then I started hearing the yells and shattering plates drowned out by your slithering stares.
I was followed and chased and caught and tied up by the hay right until I made my escape.
Run through pale dark woods to that Sugar Shack
Breathe warm steam and hide in that old Sugar Shack.
I think I have listened to this song more than any other on Joy so far. I am in love.
haha, those lyrics are fucked. it’s funny to see them written out.
sips green tea and munches on a Clif Bar
