Surrender to the Flow lot paper?

Does anyone know what I’m talking about?

There used to be a group of kidz who would produce and distribute this great tour paper.
Articles written by tour kids, FANTASTIC driving directions to and from shows, pictures, crosswords, etc.

Did/has anyone see copies this past summer or even this fall around the lots?
There are more around the beginning of tours, but you can catch some later now and again.

Anyone? Bueller?

I’d love to see a new one, or at least know that they are being made.
thanks.

Someone was handing out copies of this after the 08/14 show in Hartford. It may still be at a friend’s house. Will definitely take a look. It may have info on future issues coming out or something.

Can’t remember much really, except it had a few interesting things like the average number of shows people were attending for the summer and what not. Was sleep deprived and pretty faced at the time.

Great reading material when you are a. faced b. stranded in the middle of nowhere c. trapped in time and you don’t know what to do.

^ Exactly.

^^ Yeah, it was a bit goofy. Not the New York Times or anything.

I just liked the stories and venue info.
The best thing was directions though, they were seriously the greatest.
It even told you what ways NOT to go after Deer Creek if you didn’t want to get caught in road blocks.
Worked like a charm, never once saw a cop.

Good to hear that they are still being made.
We got to take care of each other out there!

Got one after the first night of Alpine. Great articles.

I’ve got Hampton and Fest 8 copies

i got one at spac, its called somthing else now, not surrender to the flow. At least the one i got.

Got one at Albany…And it is still Surrender to the Flow.

Those might be the ones done by RELIX.
I think those are called Festival Express or something like that.
Much more pro done.

These are done by Tour Kidz and most definitely would be called Surrender to the Flow.

got one at Shoreline i think.

maybe Red Rocks.

The one I got at Darien was called “The Revolving Door” I think. They were handing them out at SPAC this summer as well.

Brian, interesting you should bring this up. I guess I have just gotten lucky because I have scored a “Surrender to the Flow” lot paper at each and every show I have been to 3.0 That would be Deer Creek, Shorline > Gorge, and now I have a fall edition from Cincinnati.

You are right it is no New York Times, but it sure is fun to read while in the car either on the way to a show or on the way home. My friends and I call it the “Alumni News” because of the article always written at the beginning of every issue. In a heady voice of course… like, where’s my Alumni News Brah? Hahaha!!

I do really love these things though, and from what I understand after talking to the peeps in Cincinnati they have some decent backing with all of the adds they get in there and should be around as long as Phish continues playing.

P.S. - Believe it or not, you can actually subscribe to this magazine. It gets sent to you at the beginning of every tour or run!!!

Got one is Syracuse. Actually just finished reading it last night. How long have these been around? It seems like I remember reading them years ago. Wish I would have saved them!

BB

^^That’s great to hear Matt.
It is the best to get at the start of tour, I gotta find that subscription. Thanks

Yeah, they have been around for some time.
edit*
The very first copies of Surrender to the Flow were distributed on Fall Tour 1998

Your right though, I wish I saved them too!

Sad I missed them at the creek.
Oh well, at least they are still around for all us.
Seriously, those directions are the best.

Man i want to get a subscription just for the directions alone… wish i had seen these at the shows i hit…

I picked one up in Albany. I just happened to be there when a bunch of people got out of a van with bundles of them

Got one at Cinci. Gotta be more on it Cat!

i remember in maybe 98 getting something similar at walnut creek. it was a homemade zine with setlists from the previous shows and stuff. i don’t know if it’s the same one or not. mine got drenched in the rainstorm on the lawn.

hopefully i’ll pickup one in charlottesville if i find one.
