Talk Radio

I’ve been listening to talk radio in the past few months. I think its mandatory for us folks over 35. ;D NPR etc. Some shows lean left, some right, some in the middle.

Maine PR has more music and a wider variety of shows. As I’ve just been getting into MPR I don’t know all the programming but on fridays there is an incredible music show called “in tune” and daily “straight talk” which broadcasts lectures by a variety of folks learned in their respective fields. Thats probably my favorite one thus far. Classical in the mornings.

NHPR is not quite as diverse and seems a bit more liberal than MPR. There is the Diane Reems show… which can be so boring you pee and crap your pants. In the evening there is the BBC broadcasts. MEHness ensues but occasionally there is a interesting story.

NPR in general has ‘Prairie Home Companion’ and ‘Wait, wait don’t tell me’… both shows very witty and funny. I particularly like when Paula Poundstone is on wait, wait.

Fox news talk radio has its full arrangement of liberal bashing right-wing hosts. Which can be pretty damn funny sometimes but some of the hosts are overboard. I was up late last night and heard this host named Phil Henry. He was just reporting various news in an adult manner, which was why he was on in the middle of the night. It was extremely entertaining tho. This station also broadcasts every Red Sox game.

Anyone else like talk radio?

I dig Opie&Anthony and Rovers Morning Glory during work hours. Helps pass the time.

Even my parents have asked if I am turning 50 yet…

I enjoy a good laugh.

i used to listen to liberal talk radio until i realized that i don’t wanna be preached to but stuff i already believe.

i listen to NRP a lot since i am in my car for almost 400 miles a week. i like morning edition, diane rehm, talk of the nation, and all things considered.

O&A in the morning, mostly for A. He’s really good at impersonations.

Ocassionally Dennis Miller in the afternoon drive home if I don’t have disks I particularly want to hear. He’s conservative, but doesn’t take himself seriously about it. I enjoy his use of the language.

WEEI Boston sports talk radio is THE SHIT

Howard! That is all. I can lock this thread now!

no i do not listen to talk radio. why? because they took the only talk station we had in Detroit and turned it into yet another sports station. not that there was anything spectacular on there anyway, but sometimes it was pretty damn entertaining. i used to love to listen to O’Reily just to piss myself off.

i miss you Bill-O.

KFAN outta Minneapolis is good sports radio. I’m tired of all but two of the shows, Common Man Dan Cole and Dan Barreiro, but its a solid product. I listen to Common religiously. So funny.

They took second to WEEI outta Boston in the Marconi’s.

I also catch a bit of political stuff here and there, just to hear what crazy things the far righties and far lefties are saying, but not nearly as much as sports talk.

610 for sports talk is about as far as I go into the talk radio area

I do not know of this Opie and Anthony of which yous speaks.

I used to love Howard but couldn’t get him up here in the woods and now I don’t have sirus. I’ve laughed my ass off listening to him in the past tho.

If you like talk radio…Do yourself a favor and listen to the Jim Rome show. Greatest talk radio show on. I’m an admitted clone!!! Smackoff is coming up.

I use to dig Howard, but he is just wrong at times. I enjoy a good laugh, but damn does it have to be at the expense of a drunk, crackhead, midget, or retarded individual.

Fee do you listen to Bob & Tom?

Since I don’t have a drive commute to work any more I don’t listen to them and it kind of bums me out.

Jim Rome is a complete sucktard.

Rome is okay for me. Sometimes I can’t handle him and sometime his show is beyond funny. I’m hot and cold…sometimes I have to switch to 1270 just to get some funny local radio. I WAS at the Jim Rome Tour Stop in Detroit…easily the most drunken event I’ve ever attended. I got punched in the face at one point and didn’t notice. Good times.

Anyway, I work in an office so I have sports talk radio on all day from 8-5 and usually in the car. I generally dislike most music stations since the DJs never frickin shut up and play music. It really is amazing how much time some DJs waste just talking.

Stevo

I seriously have never heard anyone that listens to Bob & Tom.

The way they all laugh hysterically after someone says anything… it drives me insane. I would listen to a few seconds here and there while O&A were on commercial break… I usually found I would rather listen to commercials.

Believe it or not, they’ve toned down their laughing considerably since their inception in the 80s. It used to be worse than it is now.

I know they have a huge Indiana following, but I can see other areas not getting into them…even though they’re syndicated in pretty much every major market.

I work afternoons so I don’t get a chance to listen to Bob and Tom that often. Use to listen to them all the time. If for some reason I’m up early and in the car I’ll listen to them.
