Whooohooo! This Friday, 4/9/06 My wife and I are going to see Tea Leaf Green at The fillmore in S.F. Anyone going to this?
Also, Next Friday, 4/14/06 I’m going to see UM at The Fillmore as well. Anyone going to that show?
back to back concerts for me…WTF? I haven’t done this in over a year. :o
Unfortunately, I live 1500miles away, or else I would.
It will be interesting to hear UM this summer at 10000lakes. Everyone seems to rave about these guys, and I’ve seen portions of a few shows at some festivals, and haven’t “got it” yet.
Everyone seems to have annointed them as the next phish…they must be doing something special
^they are pretty special live dude…i think i ‘get’ them now after seeing them a few times. Saw them do a two set show for the first time in Hamburg (previously I’d always seen them at festivals) and i was very pleased.
anyway…i popped in the JITD dvd last night for the first time and was trying to explain to my buddy that these guys seemed to have the potential to fill the void that phish left behind…and i think they came pretty close with me, but watching the dvd last night i kept thinking, man…phish they are not…i mean that’s obvious, but i’m just saying don’t get your hopes up too much…take em for what they are in their own right because they’re a great band, just don’t expect them to be ‘the next’ anything (like i did)
NO matter how good they are, they won’t be the next phish. There will never be another band like phish. I still am interested in them though.

^ UM is my favorite band right now, i think i just wrote that in a different thread. HA! but their style is so different from phish, or anyone else out there right now. definitely have more of a prog rock edge (i.e. liquid tension experiment)
they have their off nights, which i thought Hamburg was for the most part…but some nights i’ve seen’em there isn’t anyone who can touch’em on the scene right now. their potential on any given night is ridiculous. that and their communication on stage is unbelievable to watch.

momadave, those dates don’t match up…but still, those two shows in a week is NICE!!! saw TLG here in MPLS a couple months ago, i was impressed!!

enjoy UM dave! i’ve been checking out their set-lists from the west coast tour there and they’ve been bringin’ the house down everywhere…at least on paper i suppose.
