I was at all of them, and I haven’t listened to any of the recordings, but in my opinion Knoxville was the best of the three. I had a blast at all of them, and I think they were all great shows, but I’d be interested to see other people’s opinions. It’s my first time back on the innernette since TN and I haven’t read or seen anything about any of them.
Knoxville…hands down…Roo were good, Knoxville was great, IMO.
Knox Rox!!! Best 1st set of the Tour in my mind…And that 2nd set is pretty damn insane…
You need to hear the following:
Entire 1st set Knox
Waves > ASIHTOS > Bowie
Julius > Cavern > Harry Hood
Late Nite Roo Kill Devil Falls>Free is INSANITY!!!
Late Nite Roo Harry Hood > Highway to Hell > 2001 > You Enjoy Myself > Wilson > You Enjoy Myself…ENOUGH SAID!!!
You saw some crzy shit CleverName, now go back and soak it all in…
For all your listening needs:
had to be knoxville even though the roo shows were fuckin doppe
OK, it looks like my hunch was correct. Knoxville was fan-freakin’-tastic! I loved seeing Hello My Baby too… That was a nice treat
Knoxville all day baby. Well i was at Knox and not Bonnaroo so yeah knox. Plus these shows don’t seem to hold up as well as Asheville > Knoxville. Then again they were my first two shows …
after seeing all three, i have to vote knoxville. it was, out of all three shows, the tightest and most well played throughout the show. both sets rocked hard front to back, and a great encore.
roo was great, and there were some moments that i will never forget (YEM->Wilson->YEM and Bruce), but the roo shows had some weak spots.
i reserve the right to change my mind after i hear the sbds, but thats how i feel.
also how fucking good was the boss saturday?!?!??! top 3 show i’ve ever seen at the roo (right with radiohead and mmj 08)
I think I am voting Knox because of that killer first set, but I thought all three nights had their share of highlights which made each of them great. I agree with old MacNoltee above. Overall, the playing at the Knoxville show was much tighter than the Bonnaroo sets.
Knoxville because not only did they sound incredible, the light show was excellent.
It’s so crazy that they played with Springsteen at bonnaroo. I remember seeing a show in Holmdel NJ on 7/16/1999. For the encore, they announced Springsteen was coming on stage, but out walks Tom Marshall instead. They played born to run. I remember walking out of that show, and I overheard some extremely trashed dude talking to his buddy and he was like, “wow I can’t believe they just played with the Boss”. It was funny.
^LOL
I’m probably biased since I was there and not at Bonnaroo, but yeah, Knoxville definitely. I actually think it’s been the best show of the tour so far.
