Thanksgiving Run Dilemma.

^ just cuz i would assume bisco will throw down a little harder on the second night…and if they’re you’re #1 out of this group of great bands, then you’ll wanna see their best night. ya know?

ok tube, im gonna trust you. dso first night, bisco 2nd night! wahooooo!

The show was lame. They didn’t really jam at all and the song selection was pretty bad. (they played an 83 show, i believe)

i’ve seen DSO on 2 occasions.

one of them being from outside of Pompano Beach Ampitheatre a couple years ago, they did a show from 77 i think, and it was pretty lame. It was just…i dont know…kind of boring and not nearly as good as the GD cover band (Crazy Fingers) that used to play on Pompano Pier every Thursday for free, rather than the $30 tickets DSO were trying to pump out.

the second occasion was at the first Wanee festival, they played an afternoon set on both days at the mushroom stage doing their own setlists and it was pretty sweet. The still couldn’t touch Crazy Fingers’ sauce but it was really cool hearing GD songs in the afternoon from a hammock at the mushroom stage.

i don’t really care for either of these bands so i can’t really help you.

2 nights of bisco!!!

COME ON!!!

Here’s my Thanksgiving dilemma.

Only seconds, or thirds as well?

fuck it…4ths.

I think all of you are missing the greatest opportunity…

RAQ on friday night in brooklyn, and then bisco on saturday.

RAQ is awesome! but its a latenight show in b’klyn, its always tough to get back from there in the middle of the night!

by the way, welcome to the oh kee pa, lionphish!

dont matter to me

already got me tix

and a box of lucky charms with hearts, stars, clovers, horseshoes, and balloons

did i miss one?

hearts stars and horseshoes, clovers and blue moons, pots of gold and rainbows, and me red balloons!!! i think thats it…lemme check

yeap!

well no more decisions for me, because i just won tickets from Jambase to see Dark Star Orchestra on Saturday night!
by the way, i never win anything, so this is very exciting. especially because the other day I was thinking about these Jambase contests and how i’ve never heard of anyone who’s won., and now i know it’s real! rock on!!!

thats cool as hell, i’ve entered a crap ton of those as well and have never heard of the anybody winning, now i have, and now i have faith that they are real, congrats on winning the tix, have a kick ass time, and don’t forget the final step >commence dancing

Congratulations on the wicked score Marianne! Have a super kind time this weekend listening to sweet sweet music.

So which was the better show?

I’m not a big fan of Disco Biscuits, so Dark Star Orchestra would have been my favorite.

I had a really great time at both shows. I have to admit at one point during the beginning of the Dark Star show I was wishing I was at the Disco Biscuits, mainly because nobody was dancing yet. But then during Aiko Aiko the whole show turned into rager. I can’t even pick which show I liked better because I had a blast at both…the crowd, the vibe, the lights and the jamming were all really really tightt!

I was curious to see the setlist for the DSO show…here it is:

Nice looking first set. It almost looks backwards to me.

Kings Solomons Marbles is one of those that took me a while to get into, but now I LOVE. And a My Uncle>Big River? Nice. Gomorrah is an interesting choice… Did the Dead ever play this even? I thought it was mostly a JGB tune. Then a couple of Pig Pen tunes, always nice, and I bet the crowd was ragin’ during the Aiko Aiko.

And the Cosmic>Drums>SPace>Truckin>Jam>So Many Roads (never seen them do this, one of those later Dead tunes I don’t hear enough but LOVE) looks awesome as well!

Is “Midnight”, “In The Midnight Hour”? If so, that’s how the Rhythm Devils closed the show in Toledo, and it was amazing!

^midnight was “After Midnight” because the band had to stop playing at midnight because there was a curfew at the Nokia theatre. I did write a review on this show if anyone wants to check it out…

Will. the ones you mentioned that you barely heard before were the ones i really wasnt feeling at first either, thats when i figured out it must be an original setlist, I was very thankful for the Pigpen tunes, i love the way the sound was back then
