I’ve seen DSO twice and each time they’ve done an “original” setlist. It kinda pisses me off. Them not re-creating an actual dead show really decreases their value for me. I mean, they are pretty talented and have a good sound, but they’re not the dead, obviously.
I’m sure the NY show won’t be an original setlist though, Marienne.
I know nothing about the Disco Biscuits, so I can’t help ya there.
hmm so i think im gonna do one night of each since the majority rules, but i do wanna mix it up a bit, i still cant figure out which one i want to go to first. anybody else gonna be around for these shows?

another element has now been added to this dilemma. Medeski Martin, Scofield and Wood are also now playing those same 2 Thanksgiving run dates! I kind of want to see them again since it was so rockin. However I was starting to really look forward to Bisco and Dark Star. should i just leave things as is? i’m sure they’ll be back in town again, right?

that being said. if you’re a big bisco kid, then go to at least one of their shows, probably the second night. then go to DSO or MMW the first night.
tough decisions in NYC. i only have these kind of dilemas in Minneapolis about once a year at most.

The show was lame. They didn’t really jam at all and the song selection was pretty bad. (they played an 83 show, i believe)
i’ve seen DSO on 2 occasions.
one of them being from outside of Pompano Beach Ampitheatre a couple years ago, they did a show from 77 i think, and it was pretty lame. It was just…i dont know…kind of boring and not nearly as good as the GD cover band (Crazy Fingers) that used to play on Pompano Pier every Thursday for free, rather than the $30 tickets DSO were trying to pump out.
the second occasion was at the first Wanee festival, they played an afternoon set on both days at the mushroom stage doing their own setlists and it was pretty sweet. The still couldn’t touch Crazy Fingers’ sauce but it was really cool hearing GD songs in the afternoon from a hammock at the mushroom stage.
i don’t really care for either of these bands so i can’t really help you.
